Modding my dash
Ok so in an recent thread I told some of you my plans for my dash. Well yesterday being about 50* here in MD I decided to grow a pair and do it
Im making a fiberglass cap that covers my dash and then I will cover it with Carbon Fiber and MAYBE* clearcoat it
To start this here is my State of the art building.(never used it,so I ad to clean it out lol.)
To give me some music in this place(finally found a use for it):
Heres the dash taken out and the vents taken off...
Here's the products Im using and the fiberglass(Walmart)
Here's the the tinfoil on th dash(easy release)
I bought resin jelly(later that day I found polyester resin at another walmart) and I aplied it on top the tin foil, like so..
First layer of Fiberglass laid(pack says 8sq. ft,not true its only like
2ftx4ft)
Here's the first layer covered and drying.
Today I sanded a little before I have to go to work.
I have time tomorrow to work on it ad Im off saturday
Happy Modding!

Sorry this just killed me, square footage is found by multiplying length by width so 2ft x 4ft = 8 sq. ft. So it is accurate, don't mean to come off as a di*k, just had to say something. Good luck with the custom dash.

Powerjunky, you definetly take on some huge projects! Can't wait to see end result. Always have an eye out for you when I cruise through Thurmont going to the Mount. Keep us posted on that mod.

Making a mold? If you do it right you should have plenty of people waiting to buy the dash unit. You offer dashes in different colors, since you could spray the mold with whatever gel coat color a customer wants. Good luck, looks like it's gonna be a big project!
