Dirt in rocker panel, what the heck?
My 02 C5 is real clean, under the hood and door jam areas are like new. However, I was shocked to see that there was some sandy, gritty dirt inside of the rocker panels tonight when I took off the rear fender well to run a wire through there. Has anyone else seen this sort of thing?

I was kinda amazed when I pulled my inner fenders out at all the road dirt and sand that built up under the inner fender cover. Just means your driving it !!

All cars, and especially our bottom air breathing C5s, suck in a lot of road dirt/grime while driving.
I live in Florida and although I love driving my vert on Gulf Drive and other nearby beach areas, I usually need to perform some extra detailing to get all the sand out of the engine bay afterwards.
I noticed the same thing when I installed my Adjure side markers and removing my rear fender walls.
Also check out your radiator access from underneath your car. Amazing how much collects up there.

Its not a watertight seal in that area and dirt/grit gets in there. When I installed the Z06 rear brake ducts on my '00 I was amazed at the amount of dirt and even small rocks that had been deposited in that area.

Thanks for all the responses. I have only had the car for one year and for a sec could not imagine where the previous owner drove it!
It makes sense, especially seeing up close all the road rash down on the rockers.
I did find some small rocks in there and even found some gravel in the seams between the quarter panels...
