Date tonight but there's rain in the forecast...
How many of you drive your C5's in the rain? Mine RARELY sees rain but I have a date tonite. My other car is an oldmobile alero sedan (presentable but nothing to write home about). What would u do? "Vette's a car, a lil' rain won't kill it/ it was meant to be driven" or "don't drive a garage queen in acid rain/you'll only attract a 'gold digger' with it anyway". Just wondering what everyone's responses are to this or what you would do in this situation.

It's a car and it won't melt, besides if it does rain think of the fun you'll have cleaning it back up again!

Drive the thing. I try not to drive mine in the rain mainly because I have to reclean everything, but I will drve it on occasion for certain things.
I sometimes wonder how people wash their car when they're so afraid of getting it wet.
I'm also one of the few I know who gets down on their back and wash the undercarriage with a pressure hose to wash it. Many never wash the undercarriage and that's not good practice.
Anyway,
Have fun on your date. You only get a few first impressions, so go for it.

Get married. Then you won't have to drive it in the rain when you go out. In fact, you won't have to go out at all when it's raining so you can stay home and write wiseass stuff on CF. On second thought…never mind…carry on.

Just drive the Olds. I think more women have negative opinions of guys that drive Corvettes than positive and if you take the Olds and she finds out you have a Corvette and didn't try to impress her with it she may think you have more natural confidence.

I have driven mine in the rain a few times. Shortly after I bought it (used black 02 Vert) I took it out in a good down pour to see if it leaked. Didn't leak at all and did not melt or shrink, but it sure was dirty with all the road grime the rain kicked up. No big deal, gave it a good wash and dry the following day.

AND NEVER tell you you posted on the internet about which car to take because it is just a car.
DO NOT even mention the Vette but if it comes up do not tell you that you debated whether to drive it or not,ie rain. If for some bizarre reason the car gets mention and she asks why you didn't bring it have your answer ready....HER. Sits low and hard to get into for some woman, especially in a dress so for HER comfort you took the sedan but if she would ever like to go for a drive in it, gladly-excuse for second date. AND on the second date, if it is raining, too damn bad....bring the Vette.

Nothing to do with the rain (its just a car dude)--THIS is the answer.

I've now had my car for 11 years and I've never driven it in the rain or washed it. I'm intelligent enough to know that it won't melt, but it's just a toy and I don't won't to drive it in the rain.
