Plasti Dip :

Synthetic Rubber Coating

Plasti Dip is a multi-purpose air dry, synthetic rubber coating that can be easily applied by spraying, brushing or dipping. Plasti Dip protective coating products resist moisture, acids, abrasion, corrosion, skidding/slipping, and provides a comfortable, controlled grip. It remains flexible, stretchy and will not become brittle or crack in extreme weather conditions.

Some guys have had a problem with Plasti Dip flaking/peeling after going thru high pressure car washes. Might be a prep issue though. Looks good on your vette.

I guess the concept is no prep so you can remove it??

Having it pull off when removing tape tells me it may not last

Why not just 400 sand/primer/paint (bumper black is perfect)

yea i really wanted to try it out and see how my bumper would look with the black on it in person, seen alot of pics. yea i try to stay away from car washes you don't want to know whats in those mitts or brushes. if starts coming off it was only 7.99 cant complain over that just touch it up.

prob in the future I will get it sprayed i work next to a body shop they can do it fairly quick

the biggest reason this is so appealing is because it's not permanent. I don't care how great the lower section looks painted, I'm certainly not taking a rattle can of paint to any part of my car. Just not happening.

It's an incredibly cheap alternative to the abs piece offered by that one vendor, and a pro shop painting it as well.

As for how long it lasts, I'd say prep work is a big factor. If you go to youtube theres a guy who did his wheels and made another video like 7months later with very minor nicks. That's on wheels where anything you can imagine made contact, where as the rear section we're doing wouldn't see a fraction of that.

I was wondering if you could use this on the nose of the car for track days instead of tape or a bra, then peel it off after your event...

Looks good. Great job..

I plan to do minds this week if the weather warms up. Hopefully I can get my buddy with his yellow Z to do it when he gets back from vacation.

Do you have any close ups of the finished product?

no close ups i was just shooting it off the iphone . it has texture to it, and rubber feel to it. i would think it would be great for that track day just spray it on then when your done just peel it off.
