Default Fixed my rocking seat!

Just wanted to pass on to anyone that was reluctant to tackle this job for fear of it being too difficult, don't pass on it, do it! I used these directions..
http://www.lieblweb.com/c5seatfix.html

And while it may look complicated due to the many pictures, it really isn't hard at all, just a little greasy. Really the hardest part for me was unplugging the electrical connector under the seat! The trick for me was to tip the front of the seat up and put a block of wood under it to allow easier access, and to unsnap the whole connector from the frame, that allowed me to easily access the connector.

I just went to Lowes Hardware and got a pack of nylon washers, cut them with a Dremel tool and a pair of diagonal pliers to match the shape of the old worn rubber spacers and they fit like a glove. Cost was less then a dollar, and maybe 15 minutes prepping them to fit. The first rail (do one at a time..) took about an hour as I took my time and constantly referred to the procedures. Once you get that one done, the second will take less then 30 minutes. I only needed to do the drivers seat.

While I was down there, I cut some carpet and fitted it between those wires and the foam. The wires were cutting deeply into the foam, and now the seat feels way better, and best of all the annoying rock is long gone...!

Lastly, though the washers cost me $.92 cents, I did find $.76 cents under the seat, so total cost was only $.16 cents!

$25??? Just curious but why so much? Do they have the C5 logo on them? Just kidding...I can't tell you how much better it feels not rocking, I would have paid $25 bucks if I hadn't tried this myself.

Also, I wouldn't go crazy with the grease either, that stuff is like a dust magnet under there. I just cleaned mine, and gave a very light coating of fine bearing lubricant, not really grease.

Yep......not a bad fix at all. I did mine at the same time I added insulation. Your right though about being greasy.

Awesome that you could fix your seat for such a small cost.

Because the $25 dollar ones are a square block of nylon cut to fit exactly in place of the rubber.I did not want to play with washers and use them. They fit perfect with absolutely no play. for $17.50 a seat I have no issues with the price I paid.

You were smarter than me by doing them one at a time. When I finished and reinstalled the seat the power button worked in reverse By mistake I swappedd the ball screws. I was to lazy correct it and it was worth a laugh when my wife tried to adjust the seat for herself.

Good job. Now you have confidence enough to fix your blown up lumbar and side bolsters. Another easy fix from the fine folks here at Corvette Forum.

So were mine! Custom made by me from 100% American made nylon for an exact fit....well actually I let my 12 year old son make one. Took him less then 5 minutes. It'll probably be his car some day, might as well start learning how things work now.
