Flat, Satin, or Gloss Black on Red C5, What do you think?
Guys,
I'm sending off my Mallett 396 wheels to be painted again. They have been silver, anthracite, and magnesium. I think I want to do black this time. I'm a fan of Flat and Satin finishes in white and silver cars, but a little hesitant on a red car. My wheel guy wants me to do flat, as he has done 3 gloss blacks on red vettes over the past week. I'm afraid it might always look dirty on a red car or just too dark. I'm open to opinions. Gloss, Satin or Flat. Below is a few pics. Anyone handy with photoshop can play too. I wish I was better with photoshop myself.
EDIT: Satin Black won, New pics in Satin Black above old Pics of Magnesium

I don't think you can go wrong with either flat or satin black. I had mine power coated satin...it was a tough choice between flat and satin but no regrets...

OK, painter has the wheels, and I have to let him know tomorrow. Looking at Gloss black or Satin Black with red lettering as my options, still up in the air. Thanks for the opinions guys.

If you are dead set on getting them painted black, go with a satin.
But, I really like the look of the factory silver painted wheels - lots of metallic particles in the paint and they would look great on a TR car.

My FRC came with a set of C5 Z06 reps on it that were painted satin black. Satin black wheels on torch red looks REALLY sharp. I vote satin.

Satin would be my choice, gloss is too shiney, flat black is too dull and to me make it look like brake dust.
Here's mine with satin black powder coated.

I'm just looking for a cheep change. They have been Mag color for 4 years, and the wheel shop scratched them up, so I am refinishing them again. I like the mag color, but looking for a change. Since they have already been silver and anthracite, why black seemed like a logical choice.
