Default Convertible deck lid scrapes top when opening/closing

Does your deck lid scrape the convertible top when raising or lowering the top. Here is a pic of what I'm talking about (camera phone pic). Can't push the top forward enough to prevent the lid from touching. Don't want to wear the paint on it, or force the top too much to the front.

Yes! Mine does at every time. I can lean in and push the vert top crossbar in just a smudge, when I remember, but otherwise I have a nice little "unpolished" spot right there.

Loose design or good American tight tolerances?

It would be interesting to hear the explanation on that.

First time I have ever heard anyone else but me notice it......same here...so what I do is put a little more pressure on the top so the lid just barely misses the top

Default Just lucky?

Mine is not at all! Never knew this was a problem! Mine is a second top though (came with a black top when I purchased it). I discovered that when I got the build label, was originally tan.

Wow, I guess I'm the only one that does not scrape, it's really close, but no scrapping! I would be pissed if it did!

Yep, mine too! And thank goodness I know I am not alone as it was on the "to do" list to try to fix. Now maybe I will just leave it alone.

It's designed that way. That's why there is a extra piece if fabric glued to your top in the "rub area".

Mmmm, I've never had that problem. Is it because the struts don't hold the cover up high enough? I've heard of that problem.

I was going to ask this same question when I had time. I have to reach in and push in on my rear window to get it to clear. I have a white wear spot on the cover also.

GM did not "design it" that way but they did have an outside vendor design it to fit into the compartment. The tolerances are tight but the "stack up" causes the issue of some tops rubbing and some not rubbing. Mine does not rub any. I would imagine the way the frames are put together and the rigging make the difference. It might be worth taking your specific car to a reputable trim shop and see if they can change the rigging to eliminate this issue. Good luck!
