Seriously? Mobil 1 is good for 12 months/24000 miles. What could MMO possibly do to improve on that.

Waste of money,,,, no.

I have used MMO in my airplane engines for years. Many A & P mechanics swear by it. I have never used it in the Vette because I use Techron on a regular basis and have no idea if the two are compatible.

MMO worked well in my 1929 Franklins. However, I do not think I will try it in my Corvettes.

I put it in the gas tank every once in a while and in the crankcase every few oil changes about 200 miles before the change... I recently sea-foamed the vette though and am more impressed with that product...

MARVEL MYSTERY OIL...I'm surprised that some people even know what it is but not surprised that some people don't think it has merit.

All through high school and college I worked for the largest factory direct automotive parts distributor in AZ. We sold parts from all of the major automotive manufacturers to auto parts stores all over AZ and out of state.

We also had a very large service department (cars, trucks, small engines) where MARVEL MYSTERY OIL was used extensively by the mechanics. That's where I learned about it. I've used it since in our daily drivers, both in the fuel tank and crankcase. I have not used it in my Z16 through. Whether MOBIL 1 (or any other oil) doesn't need it or not, I don't know. I'm not closed minded to think that it doesn't have merit.

You sound like your my age, back then STP was always put in with the fresh oil. We now know that all it did was increase 10W/30 into 10W/40. If anything in the automotive world has changed 180 degrees it's motor oil. Mobil, .. Anybody's 5W/30 synthetic is good for a long time in your engine. I personally change my oil, filter and do so once a year. I only drive it about 2-3000 miles a year. The introduction of synthetic's changed the whole ballgame for motor oils.

I knew a guy who got married, in the first year his wife destroyed four vacuum cleaners, at the demise of the last one, he bought her a hard bristle broom and told her, "F*&^ it, just do your best." Motor oil is one of those things it takes a lot of effort to break ! just my humble opinion.

The thing with all these type of oil additives is that no one can say if they really work unless an independent study was done on a vehicle over a period of time. I think if you change your oil frequently and properly maintain your car you won't need any of these type of additives...JMO

I totally agree with you. The only additive I use is Techron or Sea Foam in the gas tank only. I started to use it recently because my fuel gage was going nuts...the forum advised Techron or Sea Foam. It seems to have fixed the problem. I posted about the Mystery Oil because I used it years ago before anything else was available (that I knew of).

I used it in the '66 Rat motor, but with the LS6 and the mobil 1 I don't think it's needed.

I have used Seafoam in the fuel tank and as an intake cleaner/treatment for years now on multiple vehicles with no ill effects. In fact my VW GTI has a high compression VR6 motor in it and has almost 220,000 miles on it.

At EVERY oil change I add approx 1/3 - 1/2 quart of Marvel Mystery oil in with the synthetic and have been doing so for years now. All I can say is that I've never had an oil or lubrication related issue so I'm going to keep doing it. I've used the marvel in the fuel tank as well but not as regularly as the seafoam. I don't use techron currently.
