Z06 Power
Hi all, love my 2003 vette but would like a little more power. What are the primary differences between my c5 and a c5 ZO6 and can I make my engine perform as well. Thanks in advance for any and all replies

Why stop there...you can make more power than a Z if you are willing to spend the money and time doing it. Lots of different options and ways (supercharging, head/cam, turbo's, nitrous). Just depends on how much power you want and what you are willing to spend and live with.

How much more power? If you're just trying to get "around" ZO6 power, then you can easily do that with a headers and intake package with a tune. Not even have to open the engine.
With a 2003, you should have the LS6 block. Other differences are the heads and cam.

If you have a 6spd, consider a 3.90 differential. The gear change will make it alot more responsive and feel more powerful. Headers and a tune will add power.

Heads and cam along with headers and a tune will have you better than a Z06 in terms of power. Upgrade the suspension and you'll have a very complete package.
Or go with a supercharger and really add to the hp.

I'm afraid that you've been too vague about your goals...
How much more power? If you're shooting for C5Z performance: headers, intake, cam and a good tune will get you there. If you're shooting for LS3 (C6 base) performance you'll need to add heads to that list. If you're shooting for C6Z performance, you'll need a supercharger.
Are you looking for power or accelleration? If you're looking for raw power any of the above will work. If you're looking just for accelleration you could probably solve your problem much cheaper by going with some shorter rear-end gears (base C5s came with 2.73, the performance axle was a 3.15, some guys here go 3.73, 3.9, or 4.1) and giving up some of your top speed.
I suggest you hunt around the forum a bit. This subject has been hashed, rehashed, and rehashed so many times that all of the good ideas are out there and easy to find.
Good Luck

@06 Power
Guess I should have given more info. I am strongly opposed to opening a perfectly good running engine therefore I was hoping most Z06 differences were on the outside of the engine. Thanks for all the advice and I believe the 3:91 gearing is a good idea with headers and a tune, possibly a cold air system. This is a great forum and thanks to all
