I had the Dorman copper washer installed yesterday. The issue I am trying to fix is reducing the notchy feel on my 08 C6 going from gear to gear. I have a MGW shifter which was a big improvement over the stock shifter in feel. It has shorter throws from gear to gear and feels much more precise. It (the MGW) did not however reduce the notchy feel between gears. Installing the M20 copper washer did reduce this notchy feel a small amount. I hesitate to put a % number on the reduction. I guess I will try adding a second washer.

Why does almost everyone install just one washer? Do two from the get-go and be done with it.

Toque,

I installed a MGW Short Throw and complete the mod. I would still like a little less resistance (without adding length back to the shifter). have you experimented with the spacer? Can another washer be added?

My understanding is that you can install as thick a washer as you like. As long as the detent bolt still seals the tranny hole and is tight. You don't want dirt or anything else getting in there. Some folks install 2 washers and seem to be ok with that. I have 1 and like how my B&M feels.

I am running a single washer on both the Coupe and the Z, Rippers in both cars. It is the perfect feel for me.

Do you have a part number for those oil drain plug seals from O'Rielly's? The link didn't work.

Jegs has them. A bit pricey. Don't overthink this. Any 3/4" ID aluminum or copper sealng/crush washer will do. Nappa, Advance, O'Riley etc should be able to help.

http://www.jegs.com/i/Dorman+Product...5-023/10002/-1

Also Summit Racing has them. With shipping It will be $10 I bet.

3/5/13 I just ordered Dorman 65278 from Summit for $1.95 ea + $4.95 shipping. The specs are:

DORMAN OIL DRAIN PLUG GASKET, COPPER -- 0.69 in. SO, 0.75 in. size, 0.07 in. thickness, 0.76 in. ID, 1.01 in. OD

It is a bit thicker. I am going to install with a MGW (older style) hopefully this weekend. I'll let you know how it fits.

Also try your Honda Dealer. This is the washer used on Accords and Civics 1970-1983

Default Thanks Rickster

I went to the Dorman website and entered the part number but there was nowhere to order off the site so I looked at their sellers, called the closest O'rielly's and they had to order them. $4.88each plus $5 to ship.
Gotta go make my order now. Thanks guys!

For all of you guys who claim that there is still notchiness in your MGW with the anti-venom mod done, MGW has a new lower shift box that has new MUCH smoother bearings and bushings that do not wear out that people have claimed to make their shifter a lot smoother than the factory box that always craps out. Combine that with the anti-venom mod and you might have you a really nice feeling set-up.
