Think The Value Of the C5 Will Ever Go Back Up??
Our cars seem to have taken a nose dive in value over the last 1.5 years or so. Do you think they'll ever go back up? I mean, its nothing to find a low low mileage (around 30ish thou) C5 for $15,000 or so in good shape. With everything going on with American manufacturers, do you think our cars are going to continue to depreciate, or possibly go back up?

Just to let you know it isn't only the Corvette, People just arn't buying cars... And when cars don't sell people have no choice but to lower the price so they will sell.

Back in the day, '72. I could buy a '67, 427/435 for less than $2500.00. Everybody wanted the new style. Note what the survivors are going for now. It's all about supply and demand. The C5 will go up, are you willing to wait?

IMHO our cars will keep going down level off sorta like the C4's then at some point will start to trend upwards. I'm not waiting nor do I really care. I knew from the getgo that my car was not a banknote - drive em enjoy em then move on.

I don't think you can buy a C5 with those kind of miles for $15,000 but all used car values are down because of the economy.

I would say they'd go up in 30 years but watch what happens when GM goes under, is bought by a foreign company, or stops making Vettes altogether. I've been thinking about buying several at $15,000. and waiting to see what happens. I couldn't lose any more than my 401K or other investments.

I agree that the C5's will level off at the sub $10K range, and eventually they'll start to go back up.....but I doubt if that will happen anytime soon. I have a '98 pace car - and it seems to hold it's value better than my other '98.

I really don't think these cars, or 99% of cars made these days will go up in value. They made too many of them. I understand that over the years some will be totaled etc., but there will still be a ton more laying around. I think the only C5's that will be worth any money are the more rare models and rare colors, such as the 01 speedway white with mod red interior.

I wish you were right, but I paid $15.5 for my 98 with 29k mi. Just needed a new clutch. And I've seen quite a few other earlier similar C5's for pretty close to that online. I think you're right about the economy though.

If I knew the answer to that question I'd be a Wall St investor. Oh, wait, does that mean that the government will buy my C5 as part of the stimulus?????????????????????????/

Not likely when there's a million of our cars on the road.
I didn't buy mine to sell down the road for a profit. I bought it to mod and enjoy, which is what I'm doing. 2000 with 121k miles here, 14k miles with the supercharger.

If a C5 is kept in excellent shape and has low miles, it will probably go up in value, but not for quite a few years. There are just too many of them out there to be collectible in the near term.
There are those out there though that continue to think their car is worth thousands more than the market says they are worth.
