Z51 package (C5) or not
I am looking to replace my rear shocks, probably front also. I called Eckler's and they asked is the C5 a Z51 or not. I called the Chevy dealer and basically all he told me it's a FE1 or soft package. I'm not sure what all that means I just need to know if can I install Z51 shocks from Eckler's? Or what do you suggest? This is my everyday car so I don't want to get crazy with high performance type shocks. Thank you!

I have a 2002 Z51 Coupe and If you put Z51 shocks on your Coupe it will be a little stiffer ride. The Z51 package includes stiffer springs, shocks and larger sway bars. So if you want your car to ride nice and smooth don't put on the Z51 shocks even though you don't have Z51 springs it will stiffen your ride some...
Good Luck!

The EF1 is base suspension package. The option list is located on the inside of the glove box door, at least on my '01 not sure about earlier models. But that will tell you what suspension you have. Even if you don't have the Z51 suspension you can still upgrade the shocks to teh Z51. You may want to think about going with the C6 Z51 and while you are at it upgrade the front and rear sway bars.

Just buy the C6 Z06 shocks from a vender here.
They fit perfectly and will give you a great ride and handling, and are likely cheaper. Many here have done it..
