Default Which fuse for under-hood lamp

I believe I just shorted out the circuit while trying to change the bulb.
I though I might get a quick answer pointing to the correct fuse
for this circuit!

Thanks in advance - Tom

the fuse is the same for the glovebox light and the mirror lights it is contained in the fuse box located in the passenger side footwell. not certain of the number however without going out in the rain to see mine (j/k). there is a number guide in the fuse box cover. hope that helpsyou out.if your glovebox light and mirror lights are working you have another problem.

Why pull a fuse when you can just unplug it. Look for the wire harness that goes down by the passenger side head light. There is a connector there. Just unplug it.

Everyone doesn't read the question the same way, I guess.

It should be fuse #2 in the passenger foot well.

With the hood up, you can see the plug just to the left of the air filter

Hey guys, the question was "which fuse", he blew a fuse, he's not trying to disconnect the light, he's trying to make it work again.

, but after replacing the correct fuse maybe he should disconnect the light so he won't short it out again and blow another fuse?

Thanks everyone.
Yes, I found the connector right after I shorted it -
as usual, a day late and a dollar short!

I guess we should read the question and not second guess..................

However, now a bunch of people know two things: 1) it's fuse #2 and 2) there is a disconnect plug between the passenger side headlight and the intake air filter.

Default I appreciate the help!

Thanks for being so thorough with your answers here. I tried replacing the bulb. Then I found this website. Went to good ol' Fuse #2, but I knew it was going to be good, because I had a light in my glovebox and mirror. Then I found the post that talked about the connector between the passenger headlight and the intake air filter. Sure enough, it was unplugged.

I just bought the car, and this is one of several strange things I've found so far....

The schematics show it as being in the light fixture itself...I think it's a mercury switch.

Hey having the same issue. Glove box and mirror lights are still good, so its not the fuse. Connector seems to be good. Tried changing the bulb to LED and that didn't work either. Also the light under the driver side foot area is also out.. could that be connected to this under hood light issue?

So, here I am 3 years after the previous post and this information is helping me. Today I replaced the sun visors with a pair from C&S is Sarasota.
After the install the vanity lights would not come on so I searched the Corvette forum and found this thread. I didn't believe it would be the fuse.
It was and I had forgotten that I had replaced the visors because my wife had been in the passenger seat a couple of days ago. When she tried
to use the visor mirror, it pretty much fell out in her hands. Do ya think that might have caused a short that blew the #2 fuse... DUH!!!

I joined this forum back in 2004 when we bought my C5 and its still a major library of C5 knowledge. Long live the Corvette Forum.
