Firing order change...possible?
(flame suit on)
Just out of curiosity...is it possible to change the firing order of the LS1/6 to that of LT or previous block engines...has anyone done it?
Reason I ask is because alot of forum membrs asked why LS engines dont have that rumbly musclecar tone...and was thinking if someone ever ran the LS with the oldschool firing order for sound or other reasons?

A common complaint of the L98/LT1 C4 owners was that they did not have the old school rumble either. Maybe try the Ford firing order.

Here is the reason for the firing order change, according to Wikipedia:
"The cylinder firing order was changed to 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3, so that the LS series now corresponds to the firing pattern of other modern V8 engines (for example the Ford Modular V8)."
Funny, after reading above posts that this IS FORD'S FIRING ORDER !

Much easier to just change the cat back exhaust - I have Corsa Pace Cars on mine and while they may not sound like a 60's muscle car, to they make a huge difference in how the car sounds from stock.

Just pull the LS1 and install an old school Chevy 327!
