Yes the single would work great in a road race application, but if it is within the means, I would suggest the 9000 series twin for a street/track application, or the 7000 series triple if it is a dedicated track car.
Sorry there is no aluminum flywheel option from mantic, but the 7000 series is 26 lbs, the 9000 is 35 lbs, and the ER2 single is 49 lbs. All complete clutch assembly weights with the flywheel included.

C5 and C6 triples are in stock at ECS. C7 twins are being tested here this week too!
