HELP - Sear low profile aluminum floor jack seal repair kit NEEDED
I have a leaking Sear red low profile aluminum floor jack(model#9 50239). I have been told that Sears does not provide a repair service, nor do they offer a seal repair kit.
Does any one have any suggestions regarding where I can obtain a seal repair kit? I have tried Granger, but they also indicated that they only sell these floor jacks, but do not offer any repair service or seal kits.
Any suggestions?
I hate to throw it away, the approximate cost was $250.

It seems that no one services what they sell anymore! All of that stuff is made to sell.

Do you still have an instruction manual? If service parts are available, the instructions should give you that information and source.
If not, check the Yellow Pages under "hydraulic jack repair". A rebuild kit may only involve some rubber/Vitron o-rings and c-clips, anyway. Some of the aluminum floor jacks don't even use o-rings. It's planned obsolescence. That's what we called it back in the '60s and '70s...and rebuild kits were available back then. People just didn't want to deal with it.
While the light weight aluminum jacks are popular, many are made off shore with no serviceable parts available to the consumer.
I've got a 50#+ steel SEAR'S jack that I bought about twenty years ago. I still have the spare parts kit that came with it. It's not convenient to use, but it's not disposable, either.

If you want your jack rebuilt, try this place:
http://hydraulicsunlimited.net/
I had them rebuild the cylinders on two Sears jacks that were about 25 years old. Great job, great service. You only need to send them the hydraulic cylinders, the jacks come apart easily.

Sears usually takes anything back.. especially during this time of year
I would contact sears customer service... and try to explain that sears has always stood behind their products, You were under the impression that all sears tools were guaranteed for life...and this is why you bought the jack in the first place, but if your parts now only indicates sub par quality.. You wont be buying any more products from Sears, especially since you no longer back their quality.

I'll jump on board with this one, it's a POS!!!!!!! Used mine maybe a half a dozen times and just over a year the seals leaked and something else had cracked that I replaced. I was allways a big Sears fan until this POC. I can guarantee you I'll never bay another jack from them. Most of their tools are fine though. As soon as I saw this post my blood pressure began to boil.

Mine started leaking also just out of warranty, individual parts were not available but they would sell you a complete new cylinder for it. with shipping it cost more than the jack. just scrap it and buy another offshore made jack from harbor freight they are the same ones sears sells and you will save money.

not to hjack this thread, but I have the same jack and only use it on my pickup (due to weight)
it takes a couple of dozen pumps to raise it a few inches
each pump = small fraction of an inch
have bled the thing several times and no help
is this typical for this jack ?
