Default Anyone have a tow hook?

I want to add a tow hook to the front of my car but not sure on the placement.

If you search the AX/RR section, there is plenty of threads of types, where to and how tos. I will be installing mine on the front this winter. I have the flexible one on rear - diy in that section. Good luck with it.

The export model has a tow hook as a standard fit to comply with Euro regulations. You can order the part through GM dealers so I'm sure one of the Forum parts vendors could fix you up.

Here's the replacement procedure. As you dont have one fitted you'll just need to weld it in place on the impact bar as per the diagram.

Tow Hook Replacement Front Export
Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front fascia. Refer to Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper in Bumpers.
2. Cut through the welds attaching the tow hook to the impact bar.
3. Remove the tow hook.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the tow hook to the passenger side of the impact bar. The near edge of the tow hook should be 325 mm (13 in) from the side rail.
2. Mig Weld, with 50 mm (2 in) long welds, the hook assembly to the impact bar in 4 places:
o Front
o Rear
o Inboard side
o Outboard side
3. Clean and prepare all welded surfaces.
4. Apply an approved anti-corrosion primer. Refer to GM P/N 4901 MD Refinish Manual.
5. Install the front fascia. Refer to Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper in Bumpers.

Mine are not folding, but folding tow hooks are made.

Phoenix Performance made mine and makes folding hooks too.

Default Removable Front Tow Hook

Roger:

The attached hook installs in about an hour and is removable when on the street or at the dealer. Unless you think it is cool to have hooks showing all the time, you may want to consider this alternative.

Here is the Phoenix Performance hinged front hook with the ring removed and installed. I painted the bracket that is bolted to the frame black so it would blend in better.
