I would definitely pass on the wagon. I have an SUV for family chores.
It's the V coupe that , then the sedan is my 2nd choice.

I did a track event sponsored by Cadillac to promote the CTS-V back in October, and I'll be honest...
It's a pretty amazing car. If I was not committed to a "two-car" lifestyle (C5 for fun, an SUV for mundane slogging through bad weather and days when the 'vette is not running because I'm mid-way through a project), and I had to pick just one vehicle to drive, it'd be a CTS-V.
From 2009 onward, they've had a supercharged 6.2L V8 putting out 556 horsepower. They come standard with some very impressive Brembo brakes that, during the event, didn't wilt under a day of flogging around Spring Mountain. Hell, it's one of the few sedans thatEcomes with a stick!
The styling is very hit or miss for people, but I dig it. Some of my peers think the "Batmobile / Stealth Fighter" look is too weird, but I've liked it a lot since Cadillac started using it. The car is slightly better than a BMW 3-series, but not quite as large as a 5-series, so it's hard to line it up against it's "natural" enemy and compare because it's a bit more Americanized (re: bigger) than the Japanese and European cars.
Anyways, long story short -- for the price ($65,000), I think it's the best blend of muscle and comfort I've found. It's the type of car that, now that I've had a Corvette, I could see myself buying.
And I'm not a chick.
P.S., The wagon is surprisingly bad-*** and really good. It's not as tight on the track as the coupe or sedan, but it's damn good!

They are selling the 2011 coupes on Ebay with about 10k miles or less for $52k - $ 55k . That's not a bad deal when someone else has already taken the new car hit of about $15k.
At that point what would one choose, a 2011 CTS-V or a nice used C6 Z06 ?
decisions...... decisions.

I'd definitely give the edge to the CTS-V and however you want to classify it, it is one badazz car.

Just another car.......... After seeing them.... ho-hum, not going to cause any urge to ditch my Vette for them. It's for old people who no longer "fit" in a vette, but still have the urge to go fast and stop when their eyesight starts to fail. Actually kinda scary when you think about their market segment. Blue hairs stomping the throttle?
Saw one at a car show with the dealer stickers still on the window, and the old couple strutting around like peacocks all dressed up in Panama hats and shorts. Telling anyone who stopped long enough it had 556hp!
When I get too old and can't get in and out....maybe I'll buy a CTS-V and drive before I get shoved in a hearse for that last ride.

I bought my ZO6 nearly 4yrs ago when I was 32. HAve always loved the V's, even the first gen. If I couldn't have the ZO6, i would have a newer CTS-V. These cars are not specifically marketed towards the baby boomers. I think they market them towards the 35-50 category. Especially people who want a fast car but have to compromise because they have a family and need a 4 door car.

Hmmm! Good thread. I never thought I would say this, but I like them both. Recently I've been thinking that they are the 2 cars I would look at if I sold the Vette. I would probably lean to the V, and I don't really care which one is faster. In a straight line, they are both faster than my Vette, which is plenty fast enough for me. That being said, my Vette isn't for sale.

Of course, all that one needs to do is look carefully at the subliminal messages GM injects in their commercials. They are there for a reason.
DTS commercials will show a gray headed driver enjoying the ride. CTS commercials usually feature a woman, in an executive attire driving one. Then there is the CTSV, it's always a mid 30s guy with a lead foot behind the wheel.

CTS-V is what I would bet on - "BUT" I would think the GT would hold it close -
The CTS-V would be slightly heavier - yes the GT's are heavy too but the edge is to the Caddy!
Thanks,Matt

Just 5-years ago, I honestly never thought that I would own a Cadillac...but now I drive the CTS-V on a regular basis; take the kids to/from High School and then go to the track and run in the 11's. In stock form my CTS-V outperformed my stock Z06 in every way!

it is truly capable of making the hair on your arms stand up straight (if you can find the place to really run it). it is anything but a female car in my opinion. drive one and you'll be forced to agree, lol
