Default Schumacher battery tender

My Deltran Battery Tender gave out and I have a Schumacher SC-200a model that I got as a doorprize. My question is, can the Schumacher item remain hooked up to an optima red top for an indefinite period of time like the Battery Tender could?

I have a Schuhmacher "fast Charger". Spent around $50.00 a month or so ago. It tops off my non gel battery in less than an hour and has provisions for red and yellow Top batters (gel batteries). Once charged it will automaticall go to a trickel charge.

Go online with your model and you can find the manual and it will explain all of it's capibilities.

Hope this helps.

I run two of the cheap models from WalMart and have had nothing but good performance. I have had one constantly running on my ski boat since 1997, and as a result, have only bought 3 batteries in the 15 years of service.....IN A BOAT.

I think you will be happy with it......enjoy

I believe the Deltran Battery Tender has a 5 year warranty. You might want to check that out.

I bought a nice Shumacher charger that is full automatic at my car audio store. I would hook it up to kinetiks, batcaps, redtops, yellowtops and regular batteries. The charger will always ramp up to 18v-19v. Luckily we only lost one battery and no one was injured. Other than the spiking. It was a nice unit.

I am not sure about your model, however I have been using a Schumacher speedcharge maintainer 1.5A on several cars and tractors. They work great and are designed to be left on.

I see them at Walmart for a little over $20 and the best price I found was on sale at Farm & Fleet for about $15.

I bought mine a few years ago and I see they have changed slightly. Now they don't have a desulfation mode on the new ones, but I expect they should work the same.

I have been using a Schumacher maintainer 1.5A on my Corvette AGM battery. I bought it at WalMart for $15-20.

Same here. I have been using the cheap Walmart one on my redtop for four years now and never had an issue. They do a great job.

That is what I have plugged on mine, and it works up to par in 0* degree weather. It keeps the battery charged.

I asked the schumacher technical if I cold leave the model I have hooked up to an optima red top. They said that Optima recommends a 1.25 amp and my model is a 2.0 amp, so i suppose i should change to one with less amperage.
