how how did you take apart the two door halfs?

Dremel. Cut the plastic welded buttons off, JB Welded them back together.

ok cool...seeing this makes me want to do my lowers in red..thanks!

I decided to NOT do the lowers, reason is I hit it with my boots quite often and worried I would scratch it up horribly. I also know any passenger wouldn't take the time and THEY might ruin the finish. HOWEVER this would be a great part to have recovered in red vinyl and eliminate that concern.
