I've taken my wheels off many times to polish them - a lot more work but sure does make them look good.

Melting Slicks
That is how I use to do it too and the wife never minded it . Now I have a work bench with a wheel chock and stool to sit at eye level and just polish away, much easier on the back this way.
Can you post a pic showing the side of the whole car to see the look of both wheels. Did CCW paint the face for you or someone else, came out nice and I am considering having my T-10's done that way.
