Default What's the best sounding Catback on a cam'd LS6 with kooks, no cats and x-pipe???

I know this is like beating a dead horse but I'm looking to put some mufflers on my LS6. I'm running the VRX5 cam and I have 1-7/8 kooks headers, no cats and a magnaflow x-pipe welded in with no mufflers straight to the tips. Its all 2.5". I liked it at first because I like my cars loud and the cam sounds good at idle with it like this. Driving it's tolerable but the raspy/blatty sound it gets between the 1900-2100 rpm range is just a little much. Looking for some good mufflers to weld in or a nice Catback to run.

I'm tied up between the following...
-Corsa sport mufflers
-B&B bullets
-Borla stingers
-GHL bullets
-Magnaflow race mufflers (they offer a 4" diameter and 6" length option and a 6" diameter and 6" length option)

Let me know what y'all think? Looking to keep it loud but I Just want something to clean up the tone a bit so it's deep and really sounds good.

My vote is not one on your list.
GHL Bullets. I absolutely love them on my car.

I love the sound of them!! Forgot about those.

The exhaust is going on an 05 CTS-V so it will have to be cut and welded.

Anyone have a used GHL kit they wanna sell that I can use.

Unfortunately none of the above offer just the mufflers alone and they don't make these Catbacks for my V.

Go with B&B bullet,s smaller so you can work them in a small place...Plus the loudest also.. and the chepest too. Robert

Looks like the TN boys are chiming in here and giving the advice.
There was a guy in ATL were I get my car worked on who I believe put a Magnaflow set on his LS6 CTS-V. I've heard those sound pretty mean too.

There is no best sounding exhaust. Only what's best sounding to you. Some like Metallica, some like Madonna, which one is best (although it's certainly Metallica ).

Corsa has several types, but personally, don't like the sound of any of them.
B&B are loud, have a decent amount of drone, and an agressive but unrefined sound.

Borla Stingers are my hands down favorite, and the ones I run. Not as much drone as the B&B, and still a low rumble exhaust but more refined.

GHLs are similar to Borla, less to no drone, and a decent sound as well.

But this is all my opinion.

Thanks for the input fellas!! I know it's really all personal preference when it comes to sound but I was just hoping some of you on here that like LOUD exhaust (like myself) would chime in with some suggestions as to which of the options above has the best tone to you. I love the sound of all of them for different reasons which is why I am considering all of them. I don't mind drone as much as others (fix that by turning up the radio lol) in order to get the sound i really want outside of the car but I'd like to keep it reasonable if possible.

I'd really like to find some used GHL bullets to use for a good price as i have decided that would be my first choice of the bunch but I don't see that being very likely as i have yet to see anyone posting a used set up. The corsa casings being fairly large wont fit very easy with the limited space I have to work with so now I am really down to choosing between the B&B bullets or the Borla stingers. I'm undecided on which I like better of those two so help!!! Lol

I was considering the magnaflow race mufflers (tiny magnapacks) which do sound good but I wanted to do something different if it's not going to cost me an arm and a leg and I can find some used for cheap. I already have some nice polished double wall 2.5"in/4"out Corsa tips to use.

So in order... First choice would be GHL bullets if I can find em!
Second is between the stingers and B&B bullets
Third... Magnaflow race magnapacks

Found a B&B bullet catback for $275+ shipping. Not in the best shape but since I only need the bullets themselves, it would work perfect and the price is reasonable.

What do u guys think?? B&B bullets or Borla Stingers???

Straight pipes is what I'm currently running. Lol sounds mean and loud but I'm looking to keep it a little deeper and more refined with less of that raspy/blat. Lol

Anyone with stingers care to be kind enough to measure the actual muffler length and diameter??

Looks like Borla stingers are 5" diameter and and 10" long so both the stingers and the B&B bullets will work nicely for what I want to do.

So... Which is it between those two??

If only I can find some Corsa Tigersharks afford-ably. My Grantelli's are nice and throaty. Anything over 2800 rpms and it pretty much scares women and children. My '03 is a part-time daily driver so that isnt always a good thing for me.

LS-6 L.G. Long tubes X Pipe Corsa Tigershark is what I think sounds the best 2 days after I bought mine. I was on here saw a video of a C5Z06 with this set-up and a week later I had it on my car. As someone already said to each his own is what is best. Search YouTube and fine one you like might find something.

I have been on YouTube steady for the past couple days. Lol it's just so hard to get an accurate clip due to camera quality and other factors like that. Seems like I can listen to the same setup on two different cars and they sound completely different.

After some more research, the corsa extremes I was going to fab in are going to be a little too big. Not only that, since the only case that would be close to fitting where I need to put them are the axle back corsa extreme they make for the Shelby gt500. Even though these would prob work and probably sound ok, I don't want to spend more to be unsure about the sound and fight the exhaust to get them in there so... Although GHL bullets is what I'd really like to have, I can't find any used let alone at a good price.

It's down to B&B bullets or Borla Stingers!! Listen to lots of YouTube clips and can't decide so what do y'all think??

Still trying to decide.

Found a pair of corsa sport mufflers with tips for a good price and picked them up. I was fully intended to use them but now im told by the members on the caddy forum that with headers, no cats and no resonators... They will most likely be raspy and high pitched.

So now im on the fence again. I can always trade them or sell them though.

Anyone know the length and diameter of the GHL bullets. Seems like they have had a few different sizes and names for their mufflers but some are discontinued now. Magnum, magnum plus, etc. They all look very similar though.

I still have a lead on some B&B bullets for a good price and found some borla stinger mufflers alone for a decent price as well. Just cant decide what i want to run...

Any input as to the Corsa sport mufflers on my setup??
