Default hvac illumination--- not illuminating.. help?

Finalizing my bezel replacement, and noticed that the illumination for the hvac controls no longer works. Not the bright dot that lights up when you hit a key, the back illumination when you turn the lights on. I took the entire head unit out, took it apart, and can't for the life of me find where the illumination comes from ... anyone deal with this?

I have not had this problem but if you go to the sticky notes in the tech section, you will find lots on this. Good luck.

This is a common issue with the dual zone HVAC controller. The light bulbs behind the button burn out. The lights are soldered in place in the unit.

It is an easy repair but care must be taken when disassembling so as to not damage the power supply board.

See the LED Mod Thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...od-thread.html for other ideas.

See the Climate Controll dim/dark dispaly fix thread for specifics on repairing it http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...splay-fix.html.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions just ask.

My display went dark. I followed the repair instructions posted above and it works like new. I love this forum. All the bulbs still work so I saved that for later.

Lots of info on this site about dimming (or dark) HVAC lights. I've got some other files that talk about the repair too - if you'd like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.
