Default No intermittent wiper speed

One day I raised the wiper control lever one click on my daily driver and instead of getting the usual intermittent speed, the wipers ran regular speed, as if the lever was set to the second click.

Lifting the lever to the second click ran at regular speed, and the 3rd click, high speed. But when I dropped back to the first click, I still got regular speed.

Then, if that wasn't bad enough, the other day I pressed the lever down to activate one swipe and return to home position. I got my one swipe, but the wiper stopped midway down the windshield.

In both cases, running quickly through all the wiper adjustments (to try to clean the contacts) got everything working properly. Then it happened again another day.

I was considering replacing the wiper control lever, but I was told that the switches just tell the wiper motor what to do and electronics in the motor assembly determine the wiper arm position.

Any thoughts?

If the udders under the cowl are not draining the collected water will trash the wiper motor.

You shouldn't be driving in the rain. It will melt

I found the three udders on the driver's side, and one had a leaf or two, the other two were clear. How many are on the passenger side? I heard you have to pull the battery to get to it/them. Is there a way to flush them out with a hose, or clear them with a makeshift snake?

I believe there is just the one near the battery on the passenger side. I and many others have clipped the ends off the utters to prevent clogs. I understand the passanger side one is a pain to re-install.

SOLUTION: I needed to replace the right stalk on the steering column. Now they work as they should.

You're welcome. But I gotta learn to wait before posting things like this. I posted a solution on another thread after I "thought" I had a fix. Symptoms returned.

Regarding the subject outcome, the wipers have been working fine for several weeks now.
