Default How do you value something like this? c5-r

Chevrolet Corvette Pratt & Miller C5-R Race Frame Chassis

This 2003 Corvette Chassis was going to be built to run LeMans.
It never happened and sat in the back of the race shop for the next 9 years.
This would make a great beginning of a great C5-R GT car
Pratt & Miller suspention bolts right up. And I understand that the suspention cost is prety reasonable.

This was a very expencive frame in its day. Someone is going to get a smoking deal on this frame.

I am selling this for a friend. We just don't know the value of something like this. Any help would be appreciated.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

RaceTransmision and most Body Panles and are also available.

I would suggest you give LG Motorsports a call and talk to Anthony. They would be the best source I can think of since they race professionally and build most everything themselves.

Get the paper work and chassis number from Pratt before you do anything with it.

Something like that needs documentation.

Excuse my ignorance, but wouldn't that be for the new owner? Or am I missing something?

You asked about the value of the chassis....without proof of what it is, who knows it was done by Pratt and what year it was done for?

They have done not only the factory ALMS cars, but they also did a small run of World Challenge cars, and some other prep work.

Still needs documentation....that does not look like a Pratt serial number plate to me.

It does look like all of their pick up points and shock mounts though.

Unless you can say it was being built for something special....or there is something rare on it. Probably worth $2800-3800.

Cage still needs to be finished.

Spot On, on all acounts.

There will not be a problem with documentation. The original owner is very high up in the ALMS and DP ranks and can get what is needed.

It was sold with minimum rollbar option. They wanted to build their own cage system at the shop.

This is not special or rare, just a Pratt and Miller C5-R Race Frame.
We know what it was going to be used for but it never happend.

Its freaky how close your average is to our numbers, price wise.

You obviously know your stuff.

C5 frame with partial roll cage, yes. Which still could have been built by Pratt and Miller

C5R frame, dont think so

These are the C5R Pratt & Miller Chassis plates

I finaly got a chance to talk to the owner and got more details.

Your right it is a C5 frame with partial roll cage. Which was built by Pratt and Miller. It can be documented.

The R part was probably my falt, he always calls when I dont have a pen handy or under a car.

One thing he failed to mention which is cool, the transmision case is a copy of a Tremac 6 speed made from solid billit, Straight cut grears, Dog ring, LSD.

He said he'll have pictures of the body work for me, hopefully by the end of the day.

Ok, So where do I go from here?

Is there any interest in the Corvette community for something like this?

There are several roll cage builder & race car builders around.

Each cage builder is slightly different, but almost all comply with the SCCA / FIA tech rules to build roll cages.

Selling rollers with prebuilt cages may not be a money maker.

The transmission is a Tremec 6 speed. In original Corvette housing. Straight cut dog ring. LSD. He doesn't remember the final drive.
The Tremec case is an exact copy made from solid billet aluminum. This makes the case much more stronger and more reliable.
It can be used with or without the torque tube. This transmission is ready to go.
It was commissioned by Calloway, and was last used in 2001 at LeMans on the pole position car.
He is asking $3500.00
I 'm expecting photos, as soon as I get them I will forward them.

i guess i'm confused. you were asking for people's opinion on price and then said you had a price in mind. so why not just list it for sale and see what happens?
