Default Seriously, what is the best, no BS alternate seat for the C5?

I've decided I've had it with the stock seat. I've read several threads on other seats, but I am just not sure if one or the other is the best choice. First off...I do not race, but I do want to stay in place way better than the stock seat provides. Second, I want seat entry to be just as easy as the stock seat....I've seen some that look like my butt crack would get stuck on the way in! Third, are there any materials that you would not buy again, for whatever reason? Any other real life tips?

Unless you are a hard-core track racer, I've never liked the design of most aftermarket seats because they look like child booster seats. Great for track days and being planted, however not much love for a long road trip.

My personal favorite non-racing aftermarket seat is the one offered by Caravaggio. Below is picture from an earlier thread. Stunning good looks and quality, however a little pricey!

I have a friend with c6z seats in his c5z. I only sat in them a few minutes but they are definitely better than the c5 seats. Might be cheaper than aftermarket?

I love the "MOD SILVER" look in that interior above. I highly considered doing a mod silver look in my Z06 before I got a smokin deal on the factory mod red.

I'll do some research...they have to be available for repairing wrecks, but I haven't seen any vendors advertise them yet. I want the first set that comes up for sale on the forum!

From the research I have done, I strongly believe Caravaggio makes the best aftermarket non racing seat... you just have to be able to pay for it.

those, in bright red, are on my wish list

as an aside, the one big thing that Top Gear and most of the TV car shows and major reviews list as one of the few downsides to the C5 and C6 vettes are the seats....ya only live once, so I'd go with a true upgrade like a Carravagio or something similar

The seat looks absolutely beautiful.

A question though ....are the dimensions of the seat and or the bolsters any different from the stock seat or is it the same frame and foam dimensionally but covered in Caravaggio leather?

i like the idea of c6z seats. they look right in the car and really don't feel half bad. nice lumbar support

personally, i hate corbeau. they just have you feeling like a train wreck on a long drive and aren't shaped to your spine correctly.

i have also seen guys use the evo8 recaros which are just a kick *** factory seat. the other thing about both the c6z and evo8 recaros is they are crash tested. corbeaus aren't and lost their FIA a few years back because of it.

I believe the dimensions are the same, however it may be different foam.

Note - I edited my original response as these are my "personal favorite" aftermarket seats. I do not have these installed.

Just saw a pair on the big auction site yesterday. Bidding is still going. I have a feeling they will go for close to $2000. They may not hit the reserve.

Stock C5 seats are atrocious.

Shame on GM for allowing such low quality units to make it into a production vehicle. I don't have confidence they would perform well in an accident.

I'm sure they monitor this website, Fix them GM.

Just curious...why wouldn't the C5 seat do well in a crash?
