Default High Power LED Headlights? Anyone tried these?

Just wondering if anyone has tried these headlights before, they look really cool, but I feel somewhat doubtful that the lighting will be all that great...

Yeah those aren't going to be bright.

Looks like 28 people fell for it.

Technical specifications would be VERY helpful. I doubt that these are sufficient to get the job done, BUT, I just bought a small "tact light" with a single LED. Uses AAA batteries and still produces 120 lumens even with only one bulb.

Larger bulbs "could" produce a great deal of light as long as the quality and technology are present. For the cost involved here......I doubt it.

I think those would look better on the Mars Rover.

There was an earlier thread on those lights or a similar type of design and the light output was nixed. Plus the lights scream "aftermarket".

just found the other thread, but seems to just be a bunch of opinions and only 1 post with any substantial facts.

Try them and post up a review.

I can look at those and tell they aren't leds you want to run as headlights. The cost is also another reason.

I can't picture those being bright or focused. I'm working on a high power LED headlight system myself and believe me it's not as easy as it would seem. I'm using a 60w LED board and it's actually not easy to focus the light correctly. It also can't be done through a standard HID housing or lens.

These guys are using multiple small LEDs (vs. the single LED I'm using) and they're all pointed straight ahead with no focusing. That's basically like holding up a light bulb and wishing the light shooting up into the sky was directed at the ground instead.

Even if the ad was right about being brighter than HIDs, the light wouldn't be useful. The LEDs I'm using are 4200-4500 lm. That's approximately 1000 lm more than an HID bulb. After a few trials I found that the LED light is more intense and cleaner, but the fact that the HID is focused through a projector makes the HID more useful. I'm working on a housing that uses mirrors (or at least I want to - been really busy). But I can tell you that if the LEDs I have can be focused with mirrors, they'd be FAR superior to HIDs in every way.

BTW, JW, do you know anyone who may want to work on this project or continue it from where I left off?

Yeah. I make it a practice to not buy products where quality is not your first language.

I'm inclined to believe that such lights do not produce a sufficient amount or pattern of light to be a good choice.

I found these photos on ZO6.com from "mdickie"

Lights mounted: Yes, they look pretty neat, but they face the same challenges that the DEPO lights have

Technology exists for proper LED headlights, but not at the price you'll find with these lights here. The odds of seeing a decent set of aftermarket LED headlights for a car that's at 8-15 years old is slim to none.

too bad it does not function anywhere near as good as it needs to in order to be replacement headlights.

i wonder if there would be acceptable total light output with them and stock fogs w/HID. or if you wired both sets to come on at the same time w/fogs on...

I just read through his brief thread and he seems to think they were just as bright as his old HID headlights.

http://www.z06vette.com/forums/f5/ne...lights-123946/

I am now officially even more curious to see how the total light output would fare with the high & lows wired on together plus HID factory fogs.
