I know this question has been beaten to death but ive been reading alot of posts on this subject and still feel lost.

In the planning process of potentially getting a Vette this Spring as a 2nd car.

I have had a few quotes online with the following setup and need opinions.

I got the following 6 mth quotes from a few companies for both cars.

"Online Companies"
Geico - $494.31
eSurance - $724

Local Brick and Mortar Companies
Shelter Insurance(Current Company) - $1215.84
State Farm - $983.32
Allstate - $871
Farmers - $1980

Im just having a hard time since the price difference on the "online" companies are so much cheaper. Ive been reading that people discourage using them becuase when it comes claim time, they might be a hastle to deal with unlike the companies that have agents you can go to.

Any recomendations or advice to give me closure on my future decision?

Go with the cheapest one, assuming all the policies are same coverage. Then hope you don't need to make a claim.

It's hard to understand why there is that big of difference. One thing I would do it get ahold of Adam Boca at the National Corvette Museum for a quote. Esp when you looking at 5,000 miles or less on the Vette.'

I would assume you are going to put the car into storage during the winter months, so you should determine how long that would be and then inquire what the "stored" rate would be. Likely less than $100 for six months.

I use Esurance and haven't had a single issue with them in over 6 years. I have made a claim with them once and they were quick and efficient with it. Don't be shy about "online" companies. Having an insurance agent isn't always an advantage.

That seams ridiculously cheap for both cars. I have a 2000 a4 c5 and I'm a 27/M with a perfect driving record, and I pay $84.00/m with Geico. I have had to make a few claims with them and they are freaking awesome in getting work done. At least in Northern California, YMMV

My Corvette is only $250/yr through Geico. I also have another daily driver, a Civic. I have never made a claim against my policy but I have made a claim against a Geico policy holder who hit me and the process was fine. Local agents are nice, I had one in another state I lived in but in my area no one came close to Geico.

Check your area for independent agents as they will get quotes from many insurance companies in your region that will easily beat the so called big names.

I went with an independent agent for my car and house insurance and got one heck of a deal - much cheaper than the big name companies.

On our 02 Z we pay $500/yr listed as a pleasure vehicle with 100/300K $300 collision deductible etc. We have been using Wawanesa for years and for the amount of coverage we get nobody (not even these smaller places come close) They are online as well for me since their office is like 7 hours away from me and I have had no claims issues at all with them.

Adam at NC Museum and Leland West Co. http://www.corvetteinsurance.com/index.cfm are both resellers for American Modern Insurance. To qualify, your car must NOT be your DD, and when not in use, it must be parked in a locked garage (your house is just fine). I got my insurance through Leland West in California and have a very good policy with unlimited mileage, 0 deductible, and their insurance covers replacement glass as well. Also has towing, etc. Cost is $30 per month for full coverage. Liability limits are the same as my other cars that I have thru State Farm. If your baby is not your DD, its hard to beat their prices. Hopefully, will not ever need to use it, but sure is nice when you do. From all the reviews I've read, claims are handled very well by them simply telling you to go and get several quotes and they'll send you a check to get it fixed. Before I got insurance thru LW, I was using State Farm. $500 deductible was $92 month. I increased deductible to $1000 and dropped price to $82 month. With LW, I'm saving a full $624 per year on insurance cost with better coverage. Good luck.

Geico is excellent to deal with....been with them for over 20 years and several claims.

Think I may go with GEICO. Come to find out they have a local office I can deal with if needed. This makes me feel much easier about it. Also, can't really argue about $1400 saved a year!

I won't tell you one company is better than another. I'll just say once you decide, stick with them. Insure all your assets (Home, Life, Flood, Renters) with the same company. Establish a good record with that company over the years and you will save more than moving around. I have been with State Farm for 30 years and no one can beat them. I have had even the so-called cheapest companies tell me they cannot beat the rates I have now.

2004 C5 Coupe - Pleasure - $500 annually

Full Coverage, High Limits, Low Deductibles on all.

Man...ALL you people need to call the corvette museum for insurance, and speak to Adam Boca, cause you are all getting raped.

I have 2002 supercharged z06, agreed value policy, full comprehensive with 500 deduct, 6k miles/yr allowance, 262.00/yr. I'm 35 and have been known to get pulled over a bit for missing those pesky speed limit signs as well...

Leave your daily with someone else then use corvette museum insurance for vette...easy.
