Sigh!!! Jaw Dropping Bad News
Hi Gang,
Getting ready to store my '01 C5 Coupe with 29K miles on it. Ive owned it for two months and its my first Vette. I bought it from a private party.
Last week the Traction Control and ABS warning came on so I took it to a Chevy dealer to check out today. Yikes! $1700 for a EBCM and maybe another $2319 for a BPMV. I told them to hold off. I plan on storing it and researching my options until spring.
This leads me to you guys who are my "options resource."
What say you?

What codes does the car have? Could be as simple as fixing some solder joints in the EBCM.

Agreed. First, determine which codes the computer is giving and go from there. Take these issues one step at a time and you'll be able to figure most of this issues out with the help of the forum. Good luck!

Sweck, Having a C5 is a great thing but what's even better is being a member of the Corvette Forum. We have the best members you can find. If you are patient the guys will find a way to help you out with the right info. I've seen some new members come on to strong and they wonder why no one helped them. Good luck with your C5 and welcome to the forum.

If this happens when you start the car then check this thread out as well ..

My 98 Coupe was plagued with this for sometime before I replaced the ignition switch and that fixed it. It is back again nowadays so it might be time to replace or clean the switch innards again.

Unlike the 1997-2000 EBCM Control Module the 2001-2004 can be repaired and as stated ABS Fixer www.absfixer.com can usually do it -
You can pull it off while in storage and send it to him and get it repaired! It is easy to remove.
Do not be fooled into buying the ABS Pump that is "NOT" the problem - the problem is the Module that separates off the ABS Pump!
Thanks,Matt

How is that possible, 29k miles and you have these issues? I would get a second or third opinion on what needs to be replaced/repaired..something really smells fishy in Norway!! (repairs seem to be done on the basis of replace parts till it is fixed) Good luck and keep us posted, Rob

I had the same issue and sent off my unit to http://www.absfixer.com/ for repair and it cost 150.00 From when I sent it out and got it back was about 5 days.
This was 2 plus years ago and still works great.
