Dealer wants 875 to replace brake booster
I recently notice an occasional base tone rubbing from the brake pedal on my 03 vert, usually on the second or third push, otherwise they work fine. I stopped by the dealer that I use to have a look. The head mechanic came out, heard the sound and said I needed a new power booster for $850-875. 3-4 hours labor, After dinner I put the seat back, got my shop light and found the pedal shaft where it goes through the firewall to the power booster. Sprayed some WD-40 around the hole and the diagram above it. Drove all around town today and so far it seems to be fixed.

How much of that cost is for the parts? No doubt that it will be much higher at a dealership for the parts. Hope the WD-40 takes care of the noise for a while.

usually a pretty easy part to replace, worst part is under the dash where it connects to the brake pedal. most common reason of failure is heat. if the car has headers this may happen again.
