Leather Seat home made conditioner

Leather Seat home made conditioner
After buying a leather recliner, I learned of a home made conditioner to use on it. 1 part White Vinegar, 2 parts Linseed oil, which can be sprayed or wiped on. Does anyone think this would be safe to use on my C5 leather seats??

In my humble experience with Corvette leather seats it probably doesnt matter what you put on them...they look old before their time anyway. Your concoction probably is fine. (My upholstry guy says mink oil is da best).

be careful
Be very careful with linseed oil. used it years ago to wipe down the handles of some yard tools. put the rag that I was using down in the garage and that night it ignited by spontanious combustion and burned my garage down. I have never used it since then.

It may work, but why take the chance. I'm going to just keep using the Meguires products I have been using - I know they are safe.

Lay the rag out FLAT somewhere to dry.

Spontaneous combustion could have happened with most any type of oil including motor oil, hydraulic oil, diesel, and animal oils. Leaving oily rags laying around use to be a big no no when I was in the navy. They explained the chemistry to us but I forget it, so I can not explain the whys to you. But it happens.

Won't matter, why stock corvette leather seats have a very thin plastic protectant and no leather product can reach the leather. Now if your seats are worn then maybe that protectant is gone and it might. I've been treating mine for years and it hasn't improved or feels softer than when I started.. But I did lighten up my wallet a bit.. Good luck.

I am working on a new formula for a home-made hemorrhoid cream, but it may not work and might have some unintended side effects. I will post the ingredients soon. I see no reason to use any number of tested commercially available hemorrhoid products out there proven to work.
...but for leather seats I use 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Watch that linseed oil. Saw a story on TV news the other week about it. Person did some wood with it, threw all the newspaper and rags in a box and ended up burning his house down. Seems this stuff is like vegetation and when put on a pile can get very hot. I had no idea but this is a pretty common fire starter people are not aware of.

Why on earth would you? It's going to stink like hell and no one will want to sit in it, and worst of all, you will devalue your car by thousands........

Adams leather cleaner/conditioner is excellent, better than what I bought in a Saddlery.
Don't use linseed. All of what our brethren already stated is true. In addition, I linseed oiled the fresh cedar shakes on my first house. On the sunny side they bleached out and on the shady side they mildewed. AND it doesn't smell good. Even Jergen's or other hand/body lotion is 100X better.

Why not
We have a $5k+ Natussi Leather livingroom suite and have been using this formula for years . Can also mix with any cheap olive oil Can also use 1 pt Lemon Juice (from grocery store) and 2 pts olive oil or linseed . We got tired of spending rediculous amounts on consumer products that are just gussied up a bit. Add some scent to it as well if you like
