Default Need some help with replacing SWPS

I have a 2004 Vert with Telescopic steering. I am in the middle of installing a new Steering Position Sensor but can't get the steering column out far enough to remove the old sensor. When I remove the 4 bolts to pull the column out and let it fall down off of the top two bolt studs, the column will hit on the steel tube that runs under the steering column. Part of one of the top studs will still hit in the hole and won't allow me to remove the column. I hope I am describing this problem so someone can understand it. The only solution that I can see is to grind off about 1/8" of the one stud so it will clear the bracket and be allowed to come out. ANy suggestions ?

I had the same issue when I changed mine. The two studs can be removed easily, they will just unscrew. I had to pull the column out completely to change the SWPS.
