No luck with C3's so I'm looking for c5's
Two weeks ago I was looking at some C3's and the guys here steered me away from what may have been a bad deal. Thank you. I still want to go back to a vette and have come across this one. http://www.racingjunk.com/C5-1997-20...ercharged.html. It is a superchrged 2000 coupe with 30K miles. In the opinion of this great group of guys what is this car worth?

Personally I would never buy a modified vehicle, especially one with an aftermarket supercharger. A mod like that says a lot about the mentality of the previous owner and how it was driven. The original vehicle was well designed and performs great

Buy what you want. Modded cars are a steal if they have been done right. The I only buy stock crowd is allright, if you intend on spending another $10,000 to get it right. Just do your homework and check out the car throughly.
Drive it, drive it, drive it.
Drive it, drive it, drive it.

Could be a good deal especially if the mods are a direction you would want to go anyway. I would consider a car like this if it was close enough to check it out in person and have someone who knows modified C5's check it over. I would then still expect to have to do some tweeking of the set-up to suit me.

I think you have a little room to maneuver on the price of this car. First, the ad has expired and the car has still not sold, so there aren't any buyers at that price. Second, it sounds like he needs to sell to raise funds.
Personally, I'd hold out for a manual. There are plenty of nicely-modded C5s with 6-speeds out there.

Have you ever owned a Corvette - -or driven a C5 or C6 ? The power of a C5 or C6 is significant and before I went looking fo a modded car, I'd suggest driving a stock unit to feel the power and handling. If it's your first Corvette - I think you'll be impressed with the power right off the showroom floor.
For $19k, you can get a really nice 02-04 C5 or C5Z and avoid the potential pitfalls of a heavy used, modded car.
Just my .02 - -

What it says to me about the previous owner is that they spent a lot of money on their car and therefore probably maintained it very well.

The mods to this car seem logical, not crazy; beefed tranny, better radiator, added heads up display, other stuff a guy who looks after his car would do; could be a good buy, but I'm partial to Pewter - I especially like the fact that he's added "hot chicks" (Hotchkis) stabilizer bars.

Vettes
I have only had a few vettes (64, 71 and 01 Z06). The 01 was a great car to drive and that is why I started looking again. I would rather have a 6-speed but if this is a good deal it may be a good place to start.

Doesn't sound like too bad of a deal for a car with those mods and only 30K miles. As others have mentioned, would be a good idea to have the car checked by a trusted mechanic that knows about modded vehicles. I've never heard of the shop that did the work, but that doesn't mean they are bad.
