Default Ctex battery tender failed

I have two ctex 7002 battery tenders, one on my streetrod and the other on my 01. Put a new battery in the Vette last year and parked it in Nov. and put the Ctex on them both. I went out today and checked on it and the little lights that tell you how the charger is doing was out, just the light that tells you the mode (normal) was on and of course the battery was completely dead. I just checked it a few weeks ago and it was fine. With the battery completely dead like that is there any problems that I can look forward to when I get it charged up again. I disconected the negative cable of the battery and hooked up the charger and it is on 2 amp charge now. Not happy with that Ctex charger but I suppose like everything else they fail. It's only like 3 years old. But if I'm going to have problems after the battery went dead like that I was hoping you guys could help me out.

They say batteries have "memories" of the charged state they're in. The longest duration is what remains. Just hope the battery doesn't remember being dead for too long.

As for the Ctek- I've had Deltran tenders ever since I can remember with only one failure and that was after 7 years AND Deltran replaced it n/c. My Ctek is new, so nothing to report on the Ctek. Good luck.

I have had my CTEK for about 4 years and it has never failed on me. Great unit.

Unfortunately electronics do sometimes fail. 7002's have a 5 year warranty.

Yes, check what warranty might be on your CTEK. I know my Deltran Battery Tender Plus has a 10 year warranty on it.

My CTEK and Schumaker both failed after a couple years. My Battery Tender Plus has been going strong non-stop for over 11 years.

those chargers still in use after 7-10 years probably made in USA or were made to last, unlike the crap today made to fail so you buy a new one....today we are a throw-away world thus the cheaper stuff made in china is my take ... sorry to hear of your failed unit and battery dead...good luck

Have two c-tek 3300 chargers one four years old, the other three years, so far so good no issues......I hope none for quite a while given their cost....

Sorry to hear about yours and the battery, good luck

I bought a 7002 that was not working properly from day 1. I called CTEK and they replaced it on warranty no problem.

I believe that the Deltran is all solid state while the CTEK uses mechanical relays. I think that is why the Deltran chargers are more reliable

Same thing happened to mine. Battery was brand new when I hooked up the CTEK and dead after 2 months. Tossed it in the trash and went back to old reliable DELTRAN BATTERY TENDER.

Got ahold of Ctex corprorate overseas and they said I have to get ahold of the vendor I bought it from and of course their web site is down. Need the receipt and it got lost in the move. Oh well things just aren't going my way.
