I probably hit around 125ish 6-7 months after owning it. Really only a one time deal. The 5 seconds or so of excitement just isn't worth going to jail, and potentially losing your license, etc.

Got the Ha Ha! There are really very few opportunities to use the power and top end that a stock C5 has without putting one's license and insurance at risk. I love those on-ramps, and I find the car to have more power than I can use wisely in today's traffic. Probably with the tune, exhaust and Blackwing it is at about 365 HP. I guess that is why I have no desire for a C6 0r 7. HP in the 400's plus just is not useable that much around here. I have no plans to street race or track it.
I had a beautiful 350/350.10.5:1 CR, 1970 white on black leather 4spd coupe, and thought it was fast. I had to run Sunoco 260 or octane booster in it. It shook nicely at idle and sounded great. Sold it to my bro in Erie, Pa. who still has it with only 33K on it. My C5 is much more responsive and faster, though I never abuse it.

Me too, my wife and I took it for a test drive in 03, I hit 107 on the freeway on ramp and went back and bought the car. It still amazes me.

Just a few months after getting mine I went to Vettes for Vets at Talladega. I got into triple digits there. It was a hoot.

I got it up to 155 once and it was pretty damn exhilarating. These things have such insane top end, they just keep goin. Easily the craziest thing was when I drove it home from the dealership for the first time and when going 60 on the freeway I thought it'd be safe to floor it for a second. Well when I looked down I was already going 95 and my eyes went like O_O. Consider all this coming from having(and still having a 115hp Cavalier for 6 years. Was an amazing day!

Yea I usually accelerate hard on on ramps, leaving lights or just getting on it while cruising but let out around 100-110 max(so far). I just feel like I have a huge target on my back for the cops and Im not trying to get a ticket haha!

I hit 140 a few weeks after I bought the car, with the top down. A female friend with me was curious how quick it would go there.

I was kinda disappointed in the 0-60 speed of the car when I bought it, but slamming it into 3rd gear on the highway quite impressed me. I was also really surprised how stable it was.

After I got the work done and the dyno sheet showing 450 at the wheels I hit it hard twice. Once was going around a car and I dont honestly know how fast it got but I remember after I let off a second or two later I told the wife "we just dropped below 100" She was not amused. The second time I downshifted at 60 from 6th gear to 2nd gear and punched it and the traction control light was on until I hit 115. Of course both times were on a closed course in a raceway off of the public street environment.

Driving home from the dealer.
On interstate light traffic and I get the slow poke right in front of me.
Didn't really think about it. Signaled and pulled out and lane was wide open. I just nailed it.
Looked down and I was doing 127. didn't feel like it.

But yeah, the best are on ramps, long ones

135 on the test drive with the owner in the passenger seat.

I hit 110 on the test drive. The day I bought it, my family members all took turns riding or driving and we all hit around 120. In almost 3 years since then ive hit triple digits many times, the fastest being 160.

All of this on a closed course...

A short burst to 105 with a Kentucky State Trooper in my rear view mirror!!!

During the Wounded Warrior Ride-along from Bowling Green back to Ft. Campbell. Got a smile and a wave as the trooper passed me at about 90.

I was "verified" at 110 mph. I had my HP Tuners and laptop hooked up collecting some engine data and ran it up to 6,600 in 3rd gear, popped into neutral and coasted back down to 70 and hit cruise control. Several miles later I found out the mph on my data log was indeed correct. There was some grace involved after I demonstrated the testing equipment.

I have been faster in other controlled environments...

Well, I can't remember when but I've had my near stock 02 up to 167 mph and she was still pulling. I chickened out as the track () wasn't as smooth as it appeared to be.
I've only had my heavily modded 98 up to 150 mph within months of buying her. I would love to find a place to really open her up. I figure with 757 RWHP, she should easily do 200+ mph.

About 15 months. Not much of a speed demon myself but on the Hot Rod Power tour boys will be boys.

But I certainly don't make it a habit. Too many bad things can happen and the risk isn't worth the thrill.
