Anybody running 275's on the front AND rear?
Would this be stupid? I was thinking of running a 265/35/18F and 275/40/18R. And then I got to thinking, why not run a 275/35/18 up front? Would there be any adverse affects to this, handling-wise, running the same widths at all 4 corners? Has anybody done this?

I don't see any reason why you couldn't run 275's front and rear, but I would do 35's. I'm running 18x10's front/rear, 275/35 front, 295/35 rear. Mine is lowered on stock bolts and I have no problems with 275's up front.

No problems with the electronics? No warning signals on the dash? I thought that you needed to maintain the stagger between front and rear to keep those electronic gizmos quiet. It would seem that with the same size tires and wheels that the stagger would be lost. If all is OK, could you explain how that is ? Thanks.

As far as computer problems, not a one.

You can not run the same height tire on the front and rear without the AH complaining...

Toque may be running 30/19 front and rear (I do as well), but I gaurantee that they are not the same widths! I'm running 275 front, and 305 rear, widths and I'm sure he's doing at least the same (maybe 315 rear).

Rule of thumb I believe is 1/2 and more height difference between front and back if I'm not mistaken. As for running 275 width up front is not an issue what so ever.

I've been running 275/35Z R18 on all four Z06 style wheels for most of my FRC's life.
I know what 'the rule' is, but it hasn't messed up my handling.
I don't know why I haven't suffered the consequences, I'm just putting forth a data point.

Gotcha.
Hmmm I wonder if the wider fronts are more prone to this? My stock sized goodyear runflats were HORRIBLE when it came to darting and following road grooves on the highway.
Do you not have active handling? I'm wondering if that's why you haven't had issues?
I know the tire sizes (overall diameter) in question will work together. Basically what I am asking is if I will have any adverse handling side-effects from running a wider tire on the front that's as wide as the real, as opposed to the OEM sizes of 30mm narrower up front.

I'm running 275/35/18 on the front.
However........if the correct sized tires have been programmed into the computer, then I believe all is OK.

Generally speaking, most 50-50 balanced cars have narrower tires in the front to lessen the chances of oversteer, even without factoring in active handling. They were purposely engineered for the "average" driver so as not to let them get into trouble (plow off some speed). Tighten up a Fiero too much and it will spin like a top about it's axis. (before the days of electronics). I'm thinking that tire diameter is possible for the computer to calculate, using the ABS sensors, the width isn't.

I've heard that TC doesn't take the front-to-back tire sizing into consideration. Don't quote me on this, it's just hearsay evidence. <g>

Now I am confused. Why would you want to get used to feeling the grooves in the road? Quick or not? I was ready to do 18's all around with the wider tires, but I'm not so sure now. At my age, there plenty of shxt to get used to; I found the right tires on my Harley to avoid feeling the grooves in the road (I refused to "get used to it")-why would I want to feel the grooves in my Vette?
