C5 GM to aftermarket head unit wiring
Hey guys,I know there is an audio section, but I'm new to the forum and not quite sure how to navigate so ill post here.
Can someone please help me clarify an aftermarket wiring dilemma?
I'm installing an aftermarket head unit in my 99 C5 using a GM harness (I'm replacing all speakers as well). I've mated the harnesses up quite nicely, im running the red 12v accessory wire from aftermarket harness to the yellow wire located under passenger footwell, yellow 12v constant to yellow 12v constant on the GM harness. My issue resides with the illumination and dimmer wires. The GM harness has both the illumination and the dimmer wire, the aftermarket harness only contains an illumination wire. My question is, do I run the illumination wire from the head unit harness directly to the cream colored wire on the HVAC and omit the illumination and dimmer from GM harness all together?
Thanks to anyone who can clarify this for me!
