Salutations CFrs, I trust I find you smiling, happy and well
I drove my new to me, 2001 Convertible in for $50 Oil Change this past week. This Vett was driven by a 50 year old woman since 2004. I believe that with 35K miles these tires are original. While visiting the Chevy dealer where the vehicles been serviced since 04, I thought for kicks I'd get a quote on what new tires would run there. I have decent wheels on there now and I'm sure eventually I'll upgrade those CCs but currently I have on the Rears P275/40zr18 Fronts P245/45zr17s I'm sure there are archived threads on CF but I wanted to inquire as to the latest opinions? May I ask what your experience has been with your tires, go bigger/smaller? What are your rolling currently and about what do they run? Is the Tire Rack the best place to purchase them or any other leads in Chi-Town?
Do you use RunFlats? If not what are your plans if you get a flat on a date, middle night?
FYI Here's what I was quoted: Initially GY $1200change. Then I sent an email to qualify their price and this was the response.
"Hi Peter,
Those are not run flats. The run flats Goodyear Eagle F1 GS EMT (for front and rear with install and tax) is $1960. The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP (front and rear with install and tax) is $1837. We would need 2 days advanced notice to get these tires.
Thank you for your kind words to myself, Stan, and my manager. Both Stan and I both thank you for your gratuity. We really appreciate it. Thank you.

Btw everyone one on CF has been just terrific over the past 30 days. I wanted to give you all props out and thank you for all your kindness and information provided. Its been great, just great. Thanks again Btw not looking to pull the trigger on tires just yet as I probably have approx. 25% thread to safely go and have some body shop BSM stuff to tend to. Thank you.
PS. Photos are always appreciated on CF of these awesome racecars. GoodAy!

I replaced the stock Goodyears with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP for about $1200 plus balancing and mounting.
Most recently, I'm now running Nitto NT555s for about $850 + B&M.
I'm very pleased with these.

I replaced OEM Goodyears with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP (run-flats). I don't track our Corvette and I like the peace of mind of having run-flats. The Michelin is a great tire for all seasons, but I don't drive the Corvette in the winter. Wet traction is excellent. Much quieter & smoother then the GY. I paid a little over $1300 2 years ago, a friend just bought the same tires for just over $1100 (local independent tire store).

Thank you Gents. Are you running 18's all around like Mr. Bill has opted for?
(XXL now I know why they call you Mr. )
What's the benefit to that, more rubber on the road?
Maybe I missed it, on the other choice tire options are they RunFlats or na?
If not what are your plans when you get flat on a date in the middle night, country road etc.
Flatbed?

BFG KDW2s here. They are pretty grippy and cost effective. Ordered from Tire Rack. Delivered and installed next day.
Like Mr. Bill said... break out the XXLs and wait for the flat bed.

I run BFG KDW2's 295/35/19 rear and 265/40/18 front. I really like them! Plus they have a killer tread pattern..... I also keep a Z06 tire kit in the trunk along with a small screw jack and a 2x6 peice of board to roll up on if needed. On long trips I also throw one of my GTO spares in there. Better safe than sorry. I really dont like the ride quality of the run flats....JMO

I am running Hankook Ventus V12 EVO tires in the stock sizes on my '03 (non-runflats). Paid around $630 shipped to my door from Discount Tire Direct and sometimes you can find a manufacturer rebate on the tires to reduce the cost even more. As far as how I like the tires - I love them. Nice ride, good handling and the price was excellent.

Just put my 2nd set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP Plus, stock sizes, on mine. It's my daily driver, 50 miles, round trip, almost all highway speeds, every day. I got 58K miles out of my first set. I don't know how they compare with other tires in the grip department, but I'm VERY impressed with them. $1250 mounted, balanced, +tax, Discount Tire. Hope this helps.

I understand some of your position as several have commented about the inferior drive of the run flats? That being said, it surprises me that more of you don't concern yourselves with getting a screw or a flat? Maybe its that I'm getting up there in my mid 5s its a thought on my mind? No spare!
Unlike some of you DD I will only be using this as a second vehicle myself weekends, dinner dates, Sunday drives yatayata... Shouldn't I concern myself with flats as much? Perhaps not then.
Thank you men.

I will bet you I haven't had a flat in 15 plus years, Knock on woodie, If I do get a flat I think I can take care of it on the side of the road with what I carry in the car and if not I have AAA and a cell phone. The only way I wouldn't be able to fix a flat is if the tire is blown apart, sidewall slashed.

I run Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, these are non run-flats. In staggered size 18- 19. I'd have to say after a year since I had these put on,they clearly are a cut above anything else my C5 has worn. Maybe more miles will give me more feedback but,I travel a lot on the job the past 2 years so,I'm lucky if I get 1200 miles a year,so obviously this is not a DD,and in turn I'm not worried about getting a flat. My reasoning is this, the tires are the only part of the car that's touching the ground, I may not like the price but,I'll sure ante up for their capabilities and piece of mind. I bought all 4 off Ebay with shipping right around $1600 give or take a bit, plus another C-note to have them mounted and balanced.
