Default Want Wider tires on the back

I have been looking at some of you guys pics and Like the way the Wider tires look on the back of your cars. What is the widest tire o can put on the back of my 98 coupe w/ stock rims? dont really want to go with a wider rim if i can help it due to cost but may end up having to do so. thanks

I have seen the 295/35/18's also, but the tire manufacturers don't recommend it. A good place to check for tire sizes and what size rims they fit on is the Tire Rack website specs page for any tire.

The biggest I have seen with the manufacturer's recommendation is 285/40/18. (This size fits either the 18"x10.5" Z06 or the 18"x9.5" base wheels.) I have them on the Z06 wheels.

The 285/40/18 size is closer to the base C5 stock diameter than the Z06 size, so it keeps the speedometer closer. (60.7 mph actual shows 60 mph on the speedometer). The stock Z06 size (295/35/18) is a smaller diameter. (58.8 mph actual shows 60 mph on the speedometer)

A similar upgrade on the front rim is for a 255/45/17 tire. (This size fits either the 17"x9.5" Z06 or the 17"x8.5" base wheels.) I have them on the Z06 wheels.

The combination of the 255/45/17 and the 285/40/18 tires also keep the stagger so that the active handling/traction control stays happy.

Good luck.

just bite the bullet and get some aftermarket wheels so you can run 305s in the rear...best stance ever for the C5.

These are replicas of the c6 Spyders with the correct off set for the c5
Rears are 325-30-19 x12

You fit them on there with no wide body kit or mini tub? Where did you purchase the wheels if you don't mind me asking?

James,

Doesn't look bad at all. With the Z06 style splash guards it completes the look, very aggressive fitment. With your cars stance it looks perfect to me!
