Car show pics - DW Poppy HS
Found out a few days ago that I wouldn't have my kids for Sunday so found a show to go to. The DW Poppy high school in Langley BC puts on an annual show to raise money for the school. They normally get a hundred cars or so. I figured that I would just drive in at the end of registration (10:30). However, we've had a really great Spring this year - 87F today! . About 2 blocks away from the event, I noticed a bunch of great looking cars parked on the road that should be in the show but were not. Yup - you guessed it, FULL! That would be 500 cars full!! So I added my car to the ones that were late and took in the show as a spectator.
Check out this hatch in this El Camino!
Fun things to do when you have a CNC machine...!
So yeah, I'll be getting there early next year!

Looks like a great show. Thanks for sharing.
My wife really like El Camino's and I noticed that the pic of the one at the show has a storage compartment below the box. Is that standard or a custom add on?

The El Camino is built on a standard (not sure of the original car - Malibu station wagon maybe?) frame. What the factory did was just cover the back seat area with the bed of the El Camino box. The original backseat footwell - complete with seatbelt holes & brackets for the seat - are still there! So he had someone cut the box, mount a pair of hydraulic openers, a hinge and a remote cable to the cab. He added some weather stripping for a seal and cushion for the lid (not watertight but better than nothing) and a few drain holes. He doesn't drive it in the rain so it's no big deal. He had it done for $1500.
It's pretty slick!
edit - there was a cross brace which was removed.
