OEM Stereo and 12CD changer problem
Synposys; everything was working fine, CD player was fine, would play, change all 12 CDs - no problem. Suddenly the CD appears to read the CD/Track for a few seconds and then the display on the stereo goes to ERR. Radio works fine. I tried to remove the magazine; opened the door and the motor sounds like it's trying to eject it but it doesn't.
I googled it and did find a suggestion solution of unplugging the plug from the bottom of the player for 2 minutes and then re-plug but the way this thing is installed - getting the CD out so that I could get to the plug wouldn't be bad but getting it back in would be brutal. Any ideas? ( I can video it trying to eject if need be)
If it wasn't a 13 hour road trip to Dennis's place I'd just replace the SOB. Not really anyone around here I'd trust to do it.

ok, guess not so I'll assume I'm scrod... Guess I'll expand my area search for a decent (relatively local) stereo place...
Andre: If you see this, you know anyone locally that you'd trust with your cars audio? John doesn't do 'em...

Ya know Bill, I was just having my morning coffee thinking that exact thought. I may give him a call.
Did you have the 12 CD changer to rip out? I could probably leave the wiring for it in there and just hide the end connectors I suppose.

Yes I had a changer, But I took it out before my install because I used my ipod, I left the harness there and you can't see it.
Dennis can even pre wire your radio so it will be plug and play. Doesn't much better than that.

What you guys have to remember that a changer is anywhere from 10 to 16 years old now, They don't last for ever.

Mine was stuck and also had trouble removing magazine from player. Anyway, I removed the unit from car. Cleaned player, magazine, connections, and CD's best I could. Re-installed and has been working fine since. Now it will probably break today which is fine. Gives me excuse to get the IPOD adaptor from DD that I have been wanting anyway.

Oh, I know Bill. That's why I want it out but figured if I could get it to work in the meantime.... Besides the CD - the stock head unit has some strange opening in the front of it and the manual says something about something called a "cassette"? lol - talk about old!
