Anyone going on the HRPT this year?
Anyone doing the Hot Rod Power Tour this year?
I will be starting from home (Jasper, IN) and going from Arlington, TX to Memphis, TN and back home. Last year I long hauled and had such a great time! My dad is doing the same in his C3! So many cool cars and great car enthusiasts!

Wish I could make it this year, but already have committments during that time. I've talked to several people that have gone on the tour in the past and they did have a blast - well worth going on if you have the time.

We are doing the Long Haul again in our 2003 Z06
Look for us
Were supposed to convoy with an 03 vert and 08 Z06, but they bailed out on the entire distance due to work
there will be four of us in vettes going to Little Rock, and then my buddies will return back to DFW Texas
Did the Long Haul in 2003, 05, 07, 12
Ran half of the route in 2004, 06, 08

This will be my 3rd long haul! Can't wait! We plan on hitting The Tail of the Dragon along the way and once we get to NC, we are driving out to Myrtle Beach for a couple of days.

How hard is it to get a hotel room.
I looked at the reservation form, but there are no prices listed.
I'm not agreeing to a room that might be $300 a night.
If I can find a way to go I need the motel 6 rates.
Can you just show up and get a room?

for hotels, you can call and talk to the official travel agent, but be careful
at this late date, no telling where you will be
I convoyed with a guy last year who used the official travel agent, and when we were in Stillwater OK, his room was 75 miles NW up I35
even tho the next day's route went straight south to DFW
I made my reservations in November
if I were to make them today, I would guess you could find a room yourself in the larger cities
for the smaller cities, I'd look at the route and try to find something maybe 50 miles toward the next day's destination

For hotels, we never stay at the "official hotels". Most any hotel you stay at will have plenty of guys staying that are also on the tour, so don't worry about feeling "left out". The first year, we winged it and were able to find hotels pretty easily. Last year, I booked them through hotels.com. I got some better deals online and enjoyed not having the hassle of having to find a hotel at the end of each exhausting day.

I went halfway in 2010 and 2011 and then Long Hauled last year. I would really like to go this year but I can't make it. I put 3200 miles on my car the last 3 years, well in 2010 I was in my C4 and put 2200 miles on it.
It's a blast, it's tiring, it's expensive, and it puts a lot of miles on your car but it should be on everyone's bucket list.
This year is the best route they've had in the 3 years I've been going. Have fun and be safe.

We are long hauling in our 2011 GS this time. Last long haul was 2011 in my 79 Trans Am.

Cool. Look for us at the Edelbrock trailer. Vic was kind to offer to display our 2011 GS there.
