Default 12.5k 2003 z06

Found this car in my local craigslist this morning, What are your thoughts on a 2003 Z06 with 264,000 miles on the clock for that listed price. Not shopping around, i was a little surprised when i saw the price and miles on it.

Wow, that is a crapton of miles! Personally, I would pass. If that was my budget, I would go for an earlier base model C5.

the car looks great for the mileage. probably mostly highway. A texas car is also a very good thing, because that means minimal corrosion. It is a 1 owner, and I'm willing to bet there has been some work done to it. I'd pay $12.5k if it had a new trans, diff, and clutch put in within 75k miles.

not enough info on the ad. I'd call the guy and see what kind of service it has had and if there are any problems.

I think the price is high, but purchasing a vehicle with that many miles would depend a lot on how well the car has been maintained. If the owner had meticulous records and the car checked out OK by a good mechanic, then it could be a pretty good buy at a somewhat lower price.

Looks to be one-owner daily driven, probably nearly all highway. Get a compression test done on the motor.

You'd be surprised - 265k miles on the clock and it might be in better shape than some 45k mile Z06s on here that have gotten thrashed at the quarter mile and HPDE days.

you can do cylinder leakdown tests to gauge the health of an engine. you can inspect seals. you can shift the transmission and you can drive the car to see how it feels

it's been my experience that people who only focus on miles have little mechanical skills and or experience with rebuilding cars and use mileage as a meter of how long the car has left. expiration date thinking almost

that's still the cheapest 2003 z06 on the market and it's hard to comment on if it's a good, or a bad deal without inspecting the car

some folks would just be dishonest and swap in a 140k mile cluster and pawn the car off.

I would say its worth a look, if its been cared for and regular service it could be a peach

Bone stock and the Springs would have went a LONG time ago and dropped a valve. He must have upgraded the springs at some point.

Looks like both of those rocker panels have holes in them. That will be a lot of money to replace them. Must have hit a lot of speed bumps?

It can be easily repaired with fiberglass if you know what you are doing.
