Default Question about cold air intake

I am thinking about putting a cold air intake on my stock C5 and was wondering do you really notice a hp increase like they claim? I still have the stock exhaust on it.

notice it....you won't notice any gain that you can feel....even if it gave you 10rwhp you wouldn't notice it....some folks say CAI like the Vararam will show a difference at the track in terms of ET.

that being said CAI is only one part of a series of mods that working together will produce a HP gain that you will notice.

Vararam and a set of headers is a nice combo, you will see and feel it on the top end!

Just remember unless the intake is drawing air from outside the engine bay it is not a cold air intake.

IMO, the Vararam and the Honker are the two best CAIs. Any intake drawing air from inside the engine bay is not a true CAI, such as twin cone intakes, etc.

If you're looking to stay mainly stock but looking for feeling a difference, I'd suggest just getting it tuned. The factory tune on these things seems to pretty much suck (pun intended). If you have an A4, they'll adjust the shift points which will probably make the biggest perceived difference. Obviously if you have an M6 that doesn't come into play BUT eliminating the 1-4 shift BS does.

I would also suggest that you fill in your profile as far as your location and kind of car you have - it would help folks when you pop questions.
