Default FYI... MCM hoods

MCM has shut down again, I was recently inquiring about a C5 hood with them asking if the vacuum mold is still being used (which they were) and went back and forth on a few emails. Then about two weeks go buy with no response to my last question and I got an email from the owners daughter saying that her father unexpectedly passed away and production was on hold. About a week after that his son emailed me and said that the company is now closed and for sale. The website has been shut down also. I did a search on the most recent owners name and did find his obituary with MCM mentioned in it so it is true (Philip A. Toyne). Hopefully another vendor can purchase the company with the molds and get these hoods going again.

Sad news indeed. I got the first MCM hood sold in Missouri back in 2002 and it was a fantastic product. I'm with you - hope someone will come along and carry on the tradition of making what I feel is the best looking and functional hood for a C5/C6.

That 2000 mile trek I took to pick up an MCM hood in Long Island this past March, makes it even more justified with the above statement. Sorry to hear about the owner and the status of the company. Hopefully someone will buy the rights and keep producing those hoods. It truly is a quality body enhancement.

Hey Mike,
When did you spray over the (Hi Rise) center carbon section?....or are my eyes going bad?

Heh... this is MCM #2 for me. The first one I had was solid, and then I decided I would rather have one with a clear center section so I tracked one down and bought it!

I think I misunderstood you... thats still clear over the carbon, it just looks really dark because of the lighting.
