Hi Bailout,
I think killain may have typo'd since the Fangs have only been out around 3 years.

Here are pics of our Fangs after around 3 yrs and sometimes I scrape on purpose for test reasons.

Default Kills two birds with set of fangs

From an engineering design and a form, fit and function point of view, these are an inexpensive solution to already damaged radiator supports. They help with those cement stoppers at parking spots. They also hide any damage incurred prior to their install. This makes you very expensive radiator support visually new looking with a level of protection unmatched by the support itself. I rarely recommend anything, unless it is fully "vetted".. by my Vette, LOL. Mine have been on for over a year, took me 15 minutes to install, and they look as good as the day I put them on. Naturally, I have no affiliation with the product, or the vendor but always looking to point members in the right direction.

Just installed my C5 fangs from SacCityCorvette today.

Great product, extremely easy to install, have to be the best radiator support protectors out there.

Additionally I am wondering if the car needs to be raised up in order to install them on a c5?

As it states on the Sac City web site, the fangs are high impact plastic with better abrasion qualities than steel. Basically steel will dent and deform, the plastic fangs will not, they will absorb the impact and ride over the obstacle, protecting and maintaining the form of the radiator support structure.

You could install them without raising the car, but it would be a tight squeeze. I just jacked my car up using the front jacking points, with some jack stands for additional safety protection, and then it is extremely easy to do the installation. Takes less than 10 minutes.

Hi ironranger,

The main way the Fangs protect is by sliding over things instead of the metal skid plates
digging in causing so much friction that causes the lower radiator support to break. The Fangs eliminate most of that friction which in turn relieves the stress on the skid plates.

Thanks
Christian

I've had mine on for a year and love them. Used to cringe when I got a little too close to a curb and made that god-awful grinding sound, now I don't worry about it. To improve the install, I ran a bead of 3M Windo-Weld Urethane inside the channel before fastening it on, but that's probably overkill. Great product!!

Ordering another set for my dad's car, as they tore the radiator support apart on their car by riding onto a curb and then backing out with the wheel cranked. These would have saved them a $200 radiator cage....

Show me a c5 that gets driven at all and I'll show you support/skid plates with at the very least scrapes on them. Skate boarders put similar protection on their skate boards. Plastic rails on the sides and plastic tail pieces to protect the their valuable and cool looking boards from damage when they grind them against curbs. These work in much the same way. They cover up any previous damage and (make your supports look factory perfect) if and when you do rub on a curb they are the front line in taking the damage. I have a curb alert system now but still going to order a set of these to cover up the minor damage my supports got previously and add another layer of protection

Hi Caveboy,
Does ATI use a different lower radiator support or a stock one. We have Fangs for the A&A SC. They are 1" longer to accommodate the lowering of the stock radiator support.

Thanks

Today I went to Home Depot, looked for a "safe" parking spot, and found one that gave me plenty of room between two vehicles.

What I failed to notice was the parking space was unusually "short" due to it being placed directly in front of a tree, which of course was surrounded by protective concrete parking barriers. Just when I was about to stop and put the trans in park there was an almighty "BANG!", and I immediately realized my mistake and that I had pulled too far forward.

But instead of the usual horrible, nerve-shattering grating and scraping noise of metal against concrete, I got the "BANG! of my Fangs hitting the concrete barriers and sliding up over them.

I reversed a few inches, exited the car, and got down to view the "damage". Instead of the torn metal of the radiator support brackets, all there was was an almost indistinct mark on the plastic Fang, so slight that you would need very close inspection to even be aware it was there.

These things are fantastic!
