Unless it's a 97, 98 or 99 with thin spoke wheels added.

I'll wait for an expert to comment, but I thought all 03s came with the anniversary emblem front and rear. If correct, that's the only year where all models can be identified.

Old thread, but interesting, I actually used the keyhole thing to date a C5 just yesterday)

Roadbike, correct, all 2003s had the 50th emblem incorporated in the crossed flag decal on the nose and rear deck.

The passenger door keyhole is great for identifying as "1999 or older".

If it's Yellow it's 2000 or newer.

If it's Spiral Gray it's a 2003 or 2004. (nose/deck emblems will tell you which one!)

But on the whole it's not easy to tell a C5's model year from any sort of distance.

And if the hood is open--a C5 with top post battery will be a 2004.

And so when did the "slots" reduce to just one?

The Model Year 1999 and newer C5 only had one fuel line because the return fuel line was removed due to a change of fuel pump.

You are correct!

Only one was considered the Anniversary Edition, a Convertible in Magnetic Red paint, 50th Anniversary stitching at the top of the seats and the interior was Shale. Also had the special 50th emblems with flags in it unlike the other 50th anniversary emblems on the remainder of the 03s.

03's also came with special leather backed key chain with a 50th polished 50th emblem.

It is possible to distinguish the actual year of a C5 ,for several model years ,because of unique combinations of features :

1999 : Single fuel line, or HUD and Wagon wheels.

2000: If it has factory exhaust --no chrome tips and no passenger side lock cylinder

2001/Z06: No 405hp badge on side fenders with Ti exhaust .

2004: Top battery posts and if equipped with Commemorative package

Subtle differences, the 2003 has different badging, as do some 2004s. The early LS1 engine covers are different, to accommodate fuel lines, and the EBCM is mounted in the rear on an early C-5 (97&98 I believe). No HUDs on early ones either.

C-2s are easier to tell apart than the 59-60 Vette, unless you're looking a a convertible 65-66. The rocker panel on those is about the only difference.

Front fender badge on all '66s IIRC...not sure what rocker panel difference you're speaking of.

Early cars had the untrimmed exhaust tips and wagon wheels. From a quick glance perspective, the problem is most people have at least added chrome tips (done within months of purchase in my case) and a lot have had the wheels changed out. Rare to see wagon wheels any more. Apart from that, they all look basically alike......
