Default It must be time.

Some people get a little upset when things go south. I really don't get upset and when things do go wrong, I just shrug my shoulder and get busy. I have spent years working at dealerships (mostly GM) so when I see a car get several years of use I already know something's going to happen.

Yesterday, my coolant light came on and I popped the hood and eyeballed a pin hole leak in a heater hose. So this morning I replaced it and ran it a few miles to check my work. BUT lo and behold..... I saw water dripping on the passenger side radiator tank. Yep, it was cracked and had a 3" split in the plastic side tank( NOT the overfill plastic tank) the actual end tank on the radiator.

So, it's no big deal. I'll order a new radiator this week and just shrug it off as just another thing I knew would fail sooner or later.

I actually love working on this car, cause after years of sweating and cussing doing warranty work.....it's MINE! to fix!

Sorry to hear that! Hopefully not a ton of cleaning to do in the bay!

I used to get fired up about things but as I aged so I mellowed. I realized that if something had happened then there wasn't butkizz I could do about it and to just chill out and deal with it.

Sounds like you've got a firm grip on it.

(REALITY... I mean REALITY! sheesh... )

I worked in the dealer svc dept for over 10 yrs and now teach auto.... I enjoy a good challenge..

took me a while to diagnose my vette recently... it would only act up and die after running for 1.5-2hrs.... but its nice feeling to know that you diagnosed it correctly and fixed it yourself....

damn crank sensor

Also love working on mine. For the 18 years and almost 1 million years I've been driving I have never not changed my own oil.

Stock...... If it was cooling just fine even though it's hotter than **** here, no need to get dewitts. I'm only running 550rwhp so it's not too much heat. Now if I was pushing more hp and doing it for any extended times(track duty) then by all means a heavier duty radiator would be needed.

Great Attitude in facing Corvette Issues - that needs to be somewhere in the Corvette 10 Commandments of ownership!

That's why our cars look and drive like new. Most of the Forum members keep their cars maintained cosmetically and mechanically. In 90 days, my '97 Arctic White A4 coupe (#502) will be 17 years old. It still looks brand new. Actually, I like to think it looks a little better than brand new.

Thanks to so many of you guys I have learned to fix many problems here and there. But my C5 was close to over heating this summer a couple of times.

Knowing I was way over my head, I reached out to the local Vette guru who found out my fans were weak, (one had quit). Replaced both and now reprogrammed to come on sooner, all is well.

Sorry you had to replace the radiator. Jamie Day found 10,000 grasshoppers in my air conditioner condensor fins. Drove my Vette a couple of hundred miles today just for the love of it,,,,AC on, never got over 202 even stopped in traffic.

p.s. To that Mustang driver near Paul's Valley, OK, don't feel bad about your car! My Vette is not stock and I have lost my fear of extreme speed!

When I was young I used to go off the deep end when something went out on one of the family vehicles. Only in the last few years have I finally been able to "relax" and take things in stride and fix what needs to be fixed without going into a panic. Wish I'd learned to do this before I had a heart attack several years ago. Boys and girls, find a way to relax so you'll be around to work on and drive these great cars. Everyone needs an outlet.

Since these radiators were prone to fail early on why not get something that's better and be done with it. My 99 has the OE radiator and so did my LS2 until I swapped it out for a Ron Davis all aluminum.

If my 99 starts to leak it will be replaced with all aluminum. I am not like you unfortunately and don't enjoy working on my cars anymore, I really like driving them as care free as possible. Good for you though, my only other labor of love is washing and waxing them. I do take great pride in that.
