Default Question on ATF fluid change

Hello all , I took my 02 C5 A4 to the dealer today for a NYS INSPECTION and they recommended i do a ATF and diff fluid change. It has only 25k miles on it and all i did since new was oil changes and dexcool dumps ever 5 years.Owners manual states 100k mile fluid change with no time frame. It has been a garage queen until may of this year and it is now my only car and i have a 100 mile cummute everyday

Sounds like the service manager hasn't made his volume quota.

12 year old fluid. I'd change both for sure. Ever hear of condensation from heat cycles?
As a retired dealer Service Manager I can say there is no quota to meet. Advisor is doing just that, his/her job. Go to one of those quick lube places and see the wallet flushes they offer to meet quotas. It was a recommendation without a gun put to the head. Easily done yourself for cheap..
Just sayin.

Bought my 02 with 1,900 miles this spring. Like Steve said old fluid. I changed everything. It's cheap insurance.
