Default The old Bethlehem Steel plant pics

The plant location is now a thriving casino and entertainment center , with the old blast furnaces and buildings as a background theme. And to think the Golden Gate Bridge came out of here among thousands of other structures..! Sort of sad actually......

:

Side Note , Found out there is a Corvette show here on 9/22/13 if anyone is interested

Nice car! I'm just a little south of Bethlehem, PA. The steel plant is massive. My grandfather, father and uncles worked there. I think I need to take my Z06 there for a visit and photo shoot.

Thanks for the pics!

Having lived in Allentown for 20 years, "The Steel" was one of my customers when I was in business back in the '70s. I remember it well.

Nice pictures !

Got one here, not the greatest shot, the hot end of the 1964 built Bethlehem Burns Harbor plant in the background

Active coke ovens in midground, the C & D blast furnaces in the far background

Plant is now under new global giant's ownership and thriving - supplier to all North American auto plants - turning iron ore and coal into steel sheets for C7 parts today

Nice for you although the post struck me as a handgernade in the middle of a thread discussing history of the region.

Anyway, I love American History, blue collar pride... and Casinos... so all good!

No big deal at all. Just a comment on what seemed to be a non-sequitur, and one that made me chuckle.

Congrats on winning the 5 large!

My Dad's company- Ferro Engineering in Cleveland- made hot top ingot liners for the steel industry and I remember going over there with him on a business trip when I was a kid - - - the 50's and 60's were the real haydays for that region - - everyone was doing well - -

Nice to see the place is turning into something cool while preserving the past.

Thanks for the photos.
